favorite sports movie (Creed II movie trailer)

The Blind Side, A League of Their Own, Miracle, The Sandlot, The Cutting Edge, Cool Running, Remember the Titans, The Replacements, Field of Dreams, The Rookie, Rookie of the Year, Cinderella Man, Facing the Giants, Coach Carter....oh I could go on and on. But what's my favorite sports movie?

A bunch of ragtag kids slapping around a hockey puck....then this limo drives onto the ice. They go from basically hating one another to becoming a kind of family. The Mighty Ducks was probably the first movie I obsessed over. I knew all the names and jersey numbers of the players. I LOVED Guy Germaine - Number 00. I remember writing in my diary about this movie. 
OK that's a little embarrassing. BUT I still love this movie - and D2 and D3. I've enjoyed watching it several times (on VHS, no doubt). I've enjoyed sharing them with my older boys (despite a few curse words...thanks a lot Disney). 
Not everything has to be serious to be inspirational! This movie has slapstick humor and jokes (bad ones, Averman) right alongside hard things like divorce, death, and injury. 
One movie series I've never seen is Rocky. Gasp, I know! I should; it's an iconic film series. With a new movie coming out! Learn more about Creed II below:

Life has become a balancing act for Adonis Creed. Between personal obligations and training for his next big fight, he is up against the challenge of his life. What a better way to celebrate Thanksgiving than going to the theaters with the ones you love the most?!

MOB Society: Bragging on Boys

Like my friend Erin shared in her "bragging" post, I don't necessarily want to "brag" about my boys but I am overjoyed at some of their accomplishments recently! So I will share with you! Moose is doing wonderfully at school. We moved him to the afternoon classroom and his teacher said that his behavior problems that they saw in the morning have virtually disappeared. Great! Twice last week (once at school and once at Sunday School) his teachers told me that he shared with someone. What a sigh of relief that one is; sharing is so hard but to know that what I'm implementing at home is working (even the itsy bitsiest bit!) is a relief.  I've noticed that baby toys are most enjoyed by the older crowd. Moose is also reading! I got the sight word list that kindergarteners start off with from his teacher - he read them all for me this morning. I bought a Chuggington book for him on their last book order - he read it by himself after only having it read

Greater (movie review)

Sports movies are some of my favorite ones; even better if they are underdog stories! "Greater" is just that - a true underdog story about Brandon Bulsworth who could be called the greatest walk-on in the history of college football. The movie follows Bulsworth from the time he's a kid. His mother is raising he and his brother (who is quite a bit older; old enough to be mistaken for his dad, laughably). His brother gives him a kick in the pants when Brandon claims he wants to play for the Arkansas Razorbacks. Brandon was a heavy kid so no one really thought it would happen. However, Brandon worked as hard as he could and made it. Walked on the team and caught the attention of his coach who put some amazing work into this kid to help him become better. I love when coaches look at the heart of a player more than ability. This really is an amazing story, an amazing movie - full of inspiration and encouragement. We Choose Virtues (review & giveaway!)

I almost think I needed this Kids Kit from We Choose Virtues almost as much as my sons. I mean, check out this list: patience, kindness, obedience, diligence, forgiving, attentive, etc. I have such problems with patience and attentive (anyone else get distracted by stuff online?)! So I know that it's important to teach these virtues to my children, too (and learn alongside them). Jesus was patient, forgiving, obedient, diligent, forgiving, attentive, self-controlled, content, etc. We are supposed to imitate Jesus and so I thought this was a good way to help me teach them how to do that. image from the WCV website Like I said, I reviewed the Kids Kit.
