I've been a bookworm as long as I can remember. I've also loved movies as long as I can remember. I have passed down an enjoyment of both mediums to my children. I particularly like children's books that have been turned into movies, but only if they are well-made! I'm not sure which would be my number one choice, so I'll give you some insight into movies I have enjoyed with my children (particularly my older boys - 8 & 10 because they just have seen more movies and read more books than my 2yo daughter). There are many stories turned into movies that are beloved by myself and my children - Beauty and the Beast (animated and not), Cinderella (animated), um... really, most Disney movies (at least older ones). But one book/animated movie that I just hold dear is Charlotte's Web by E.B. White . This is a wonderful tale of friendship, bravery, and the difference words can make. I love to hear movies coming out that are not R rated. In our family, it's fairly rare to see an R rated movie - even kid movies are more often PG than G anymore. But The Identical starring Ashley Judd and Ray Liotta is coming to theaters soon and is rated PG!  It's about a pastor and his wife raising their musical gifted and adopted son (played by Blake Rayne) during the rock and roll era of the 50s and 60s. It just looks really good. I also love that my kids could watch it - although they wouldn't want to because they don't like "not kid movies" (not cartoons).

"Noah," starring Russel Crowe, Jennifer Connelly, and Emma Watson (among others) opens March 28, 2014. I know this film is not going to follow the Bible exactly. However, Paul even gives glory to the Lord for those who share the gospel with false motives because His Word, His Salvation, His Love was still being shared to the world. The same is what I pray for this movie; that when people see it, their eyes are opened and that they open their Bibles to find out the truth. And then are lead to Christ. This featurette is pretty neat, talking about how they built a portion of the ark. Most things are digitally built these days (they did say they enhanced it digitally for the movie but it was a set), so this is cool! I'm excited to see more of this movie as featurettes are released closer to the release date. Enjoy.

I hadn't even heard that a Noah film was in the works and yet, here's the trailer! Woohoo! Doesn't Russell Crowe look good for  500 years old ? And his sons are awfully young to take wives... I'm willing to overlook some obvious mistakes (??) in the Hollywood movie if it brings God's word to the people.

When The Princess & The Frog came out, there was much ado about the voodoo in the movie. I'll admit, I was taken aback by this practice that many still actually practice. However, after watched Snow White during my run yesterday, I came to the realization that many Disney movies talk about or show witchcraft or magic of some sort (whether for good or bad). Here's the list I came up with. I have no problem with my kids watching those (except perhaps Pirates of the Caribbean but that's too old for them), so why did I (and so many others) have a problem with the Princess & the Frog movie?
