I'm making up posts again as I did this Emotion theme for storytime at the start of February, but I wanted to share these with you. Oh goodness! I am not doing a very good job keeping up with this idea of storytime posts (I've only done the Monsters theme). I have missed THREE of them! Oops. I'll write next Saturday about the Emotions theme from early February. For now, on to pizza! Storytime Saturday: Pizza! Who doesn't love pizza?! I've been the storytime lady at our local library for almost a year now. It's a pretty sweet gig - only during the school year (we have volunteer parents do it during the summertime) and I set the hours. My biggest rule is - no school for my kids, no storytime. That allows me to be with my kids when I need to be and also to ensure that I'm 100% focused on being a mom OR storytime lady. I've learned through children's church teaching and a spring break meltdown during storytime last year that I am not able to do both at the same time. The exception is that Squirt comes with me during an afternoon storytime twice a month (all of my 8 storytimes are twice a month), but he does relatively well during that one. I thought I'd let you all in on my life as the storytime lady (is there a better term for this job? It sounds weird to me.). I really love this, by the way. My baby. Going to preschool. Oh, my! How did this happen? I know it seems that I wonder at their growing up too much. But it has flown by. I feel I've missed moments. But I've been here for them. And I thank the Lord for that. So another milestone. Breakfast to celebrate. Piston cup eggs in toast. A little burnt (but they didn't mind). French toast made of the cutouts (yum!). More pictures. Memories captured forever. Little Squirt wants to be a superhero when he grows up. I think he's already pretty super! Big brother thinks so, too... at least sometimes. Moose's class had a Thanksgiving Feast on Monday. It was more than I expected. For Halloween and last year's Valentine's parties we had snacks but this truly was a feast. Turkey, mashed potatoes (with gravy), buttery corn, buttered rolls, and pumpkin pie! Yum. Before feasting we read a book about a moose family (how appropriate for our Moose) who invited a turkey to Thanksgiving not as Thanksgiving dinner. Very cute. Then our feast, which was good! Squirt didn't eat his corn and Moose didn't eat his turkey - this mama was happy to eat the rest of theirs. Then we did the Turkey Trot (not a 5K, although I wouldn't have minded) - a dance. I'm kind of sad. Moose will be moving to the afternoon class next semester. He has started to not take naps during the day and his teacher had asked me awhile ago if we wanted to try the afternoon class. It's a smaller class, so a lot less chaos, and she thinks he'll thrive there. But I have quite a few friends i...

Moose LOVES preschool!! He rarely tells me anything about his days (he's told me that they read Goldilocks and the 3 Bears and that one of his teachers was sick one day)...but I know he enjoys his time there. They have yet to get the pleasure of dealing with one of his tantrums (very thankful) but we had a playgroup AT the preschool last Friday (they only have preschool M-Th) and the teachers were milling around and got to witness one. And one of the teachers, Miss J, took him for a "scooter" ride (a big skateboard thing she can pull him around on) to calm him while I sat down for story time with Squirt. So I know they'll be able to handle his fits (which really aren't all THAT often but can be tiresome). I like having my mornings to do one-on-one time with Squirt, although I do need to be more intentional with our time.
