October - we love this time of the year + a prayer request

I feel like we're finally getting into somewhat of a groove - an ever-changing, very flexible groove. Life with three kids is good. Life is good. God is good. All the time, right? Especially when you're listening to Christmas program music being sung at 6:22am from a just awoken sweet boy. I love it. Moose: We had been borrowing a soccer goal from a friend and when they took it home, we purchased 2 for our boys. Even Moose was asking to go out to play soccer (not so much this week but it's been wet). Once Squirt said, "maybe later, I'm reading" or something and I was like "GO OUTSIDE! Our sloth wants to play something, GO!" It's been good for them. They are really working on good sportsmanship. Moose does really well with this because his brother beats him most of the time. But he's a fairly good defender, just not aggressive enough to be a forward. Only one seizure this month! We had a cub scout event later that same night so we made th...

trick or treat Star Wars style

ignore my pistol. It's a painted squirt gun  just thought this was the perfect Jedi pose Obi-Wan Kenobi and Qui-Gon Jinn love the whiskers Halloween is always a fun time of the year. We don't go for the gruesome and ghoulish around here but the fun and exciting. A day to be someone else (not that our normal selves are bad but just...normal). This year we opted for a Star Wars theme (how long will I be able to keep the themes up?). I (with the assistance of friends) turned a few panels of brown curtains into Jedi cloaks. And a couple of sheets into a Princess Leia dress. Big A's cousin made me hair buns/hat. Even Big A got in on the fun and spray painted my pistol. My mom tried so hard to turn a bunny costume into Chewbacca but costumes don't dye well.  In the end it was fun. We ended up losing the costume contest to twin tornadoes. Next year!

Halloween

Halloween is over. Phew!  Whirlwind October starts the busy season in this house. Squirt got this pumpkin on his class field trip.  I decided to paint in honor of the Man of Steel. I let Squirt skip nap yesterday so we could head to school to watch the Halloween parade. Basically the kids walk around and parents come up to see costumes. Cute. I was impressed with how well Moose stood in line. After school I gave them Superman cookies. Apparently cream cheese frosting doesn't freeze like buttercream. So I took a picture with the wax paper and then took it off. :) The cookies we made for trick-or-treaters. I figured if their parents didn't want them to have homemade goodies, they could throw them away.  the half frosted cat and very sprinkled pumpkin were Squirt's I love these mummies!   The Super S Club family! Although the boys did the local business' trick-or-treat as Mario and Luigi... That night, Moose decided to become Mickey Mouse. Mickey's costume? My tights (lace on the bottom...so thankful he doesn't know that's a girl thing), his shorts, his 3T (yes 3T!) Mickey Mouse jacket with ears, and my black t-shirt. Thank goodness for a non-picky kid! And, consequently, I become Minnie Mouse. Squirt looked like a strange kid with a mustache because he refused to wear his hat for Moose's Halloween party at school. But the dirt cake was delicious! Moose thinks he is really Mickey Mouse, playing the piano here. And here's our family ensemble. Mario & Mickey, Minnie & Luigi.  Luigi didn't make it far trick-or-treating. 3 falls on the sidewalk wiped him out (pun intended). Mario took him home & put him to plumber's slumber.

Mr. Incredible Mario & Luigi : Trick-or-treat #1 Grandpa adorable shoes, don't you think? Mario & Luigi : trick-or-treat #2 costume change in the kitchen another adorable pair of shoes...man these kids have good tastes. Mickey Mouse I guess you'll have to come back tomorrow to find out! Happy Halloween!
