coming soon: moving day

This Saturday (!!) we're moving to a new house. It doesn't have modern decor and it isn't EXACTLY what we would look for in a house (at least not down to a T) but it's a very spacious and nice house. There are three bedrooms; however, we've decided to use the downstairs master bedroom as a play room. I wasn't very comfortable having both boys upstairs with us downstairs. I worry that if one gets sick, I wouldn't be able to hear them. So we'll both be stuffed into smaller rooms- but how much room do you need in a bedroom? Room for beds and dressers. Big A doesn't want to take our treadmill either :S I'm not keen on that but I know we belong to a gym down there, so I can merely go to the gym to run on a treadmill. Whatev! I apologize for the lack of pictures but let us get moved in and I'll show you our new home.

Slim Me Down Challenge: Week 2

Image
Well, I haven't weighed in this week... for good reason. I have eaten too much apple crisp and had sick babies who have left me TIRED! So.... I'm not going to disappoint myself by weighing in. I'll wait another week.  However, you can read my guest post at Life with Lebedas !

Monday Meandering (1/17/11)

Bible Study... I'm reading two devotionals. Unto the Hills by Billy Graham and Voices of the Faithful compiled by Beth Moore (review coming soon). Memory Verse... I get these daily emails from KLOVE with a verse. This one really spoke to me the other day in the midst of organizing and weeding through all of this autism junk.  "The Lord will work out his plans for my life - for your faithful love, O Lord, endures forever. Don't abandon me, for you made me." - Psalm 138:8, NLT The Lord is so faithful to me. Even when I'm overwhelmed and stressed out, when I come to my senses, I know that he will bear that struggle for me. He has his own plans for my life and I merely need to be faithful to him. That's not to say that I don't have work to do, but the worry and stress are taken from me. He asks to bear that weight for me. How blessed I am. Husband Encouragement... I want to finish packing for us this week so he doesn't have to when he gets home. I ...

phew! under control

I feel extremely better today! Moose hasn't thrown up since 3am and is silently napping (as is his little bro). Phew. Squirt had a vaccine today; Moose had some blood drawn (to check his chromosomes, DNA, and to check for Fragile X syndrome ). So we had a busy morning but I'm enjoying the last few minutes of a silent nap time (although I can hear some baby cries from my baby as he wakes up). The worst part about moving is leaving our doctor (not to say I won't miss my friends but they are closer than she will be and I will see them again; although I'll see her once a year at the Applejack Festival at least). She's terrific. I was telling her about reading the ADOS report that I got last night in the mail. There are so many discrepancies from where we live to it saying that Moose has received a diagnosis of ASD already from his school system, to saying he had deficits in the symbolic play portion of ADOS (which they said he did awesome), to saying we discussed the...

navigating the waters

I am just beyond frustrated and overwhelmed today. Moose is sick for one - there's something coming out of one end or the other (or both) at various intervals since last night at supper. And then there's all this autism stuff. I don't know how to find out what therapies would be best for him - I know the doctor that saw us said ABA (applied behavior analysis) would be best for him. However, we're moving to Kansas - and unless you have state health insurance, ABA is a private pay therapy. I don't know how much it is much less if we can afford that (probably not). There is just so much information and I don't know how to organize it and figure out what is for us and what isn't. I feel like there should be a doctor to help guide us through this. Like right now, we have a diagnosis. But what do I do next? I know ABA is recommended and I've contacted 2 ABA therapists within reasonable distance from what will be our new home to find out about costs. But what...

ADOS results (FINALLY)

Image
Perhaps I am impatient as Moose was only tested last Monday; however, when I was told to expect a phone call and mail but don't receive it, I get a little testy. So I called (again) up to the doctor's office. I first spoke with her (she may regret calling me from that number now) and she said the report was dictated and edited so it should have gone out on Friday. She gave me a number to call to talk with Jessica who should have mailed it. I spoke with Jessica - who was SO nice. She said she'd mailed the results to our primary care doctor - and asked if I'd requested the results (I had). She apologized more than enough times about not being able to tell me the results (her credentials don't allow it) but checked our address to mail us out a copy (good thing because they had the wrong PO box #). She said once I got the results, if I couldn't interpret them, to call back. If Dr. Matthews wouldn't (huh? isn't that her job) to talk to Sandy. I started cryin...

Slim Me Down Challenge

Image
Emmi from Mommy's Free Time and Jennifer from Life with the Lebedas have teamed up to start a 'Slim Me Down' WEEKLY Challenge . Each week they'll be weighing in, talking about our successes, struggles and goals. They'll be posting new recipes to try, websites to check out and support each other through the journey. While I have completed most of my weight-loss goals (for those of you who are new here, I lost 50 pounds in the last year via running and Biggest Loser DVDs...mostly running), I'm still not to my goal weight. So maybe this will help me shed the last 5-15 pounds (I'm not 100% on where I'd like to stop...but the Wii says I still have 15 pounds until my goal BMI). Starting weight: 144.6 Goal: 2 pounds in 2 weeks  (I like to take it slow) So follow the button or links and go link up because it's so much easier to lose weight when you have people  holding you accountable.
