Writer's Workshop: Wedding

Image
It is again time for Mama Kat's (pretty much world famous) Writer's Workshop! The prompt I chose from this week's list: 2.) If you could do your wedding over, how would you do it? (Inspired by this tweet “I am watching TLC’s wedding shows and this makes me want to get married again. Same groom but a totally different ceremony.” by Jen @BuriedWithKids ) Oh if I could do my wedding over again! Let me tell you that quite a bit would change. Let's just pretend that we wanted to renew our vows and throw a big bash again (oh for the money or desire to throw a big bash again)! My bridesmaids would be: My older sister, my baby sister, my bestie Laura, and my friends Tessie & Mandy. My husband's groomsmen would be his brother, our friends Kurt and Cale, and his boss Seth. Yes, the sides would be uneven; I'm cool with that. My sisters would walk down with his brother.  Our ring bearers would be our boys, of course!  The color scheme would be fuschia ...

pink & white

So many of you commented on my husband's attire for our wedding. I've always been a pink girl! No doubt about that, although I don't have a giant tendency to be girlie (although, I do like to dress up sometimes). So there was no doubt when I chose our colors. I wanted pink. Not just pink, either. Fuchsia - bright pink! When I told Big A this, he was very supportive. Not a peep out of him. But he did have one request: he wanted to be the ONLY guy wearing pink. So our groomsmen wore silver ties and vests over black shirts. Big A wore a white tuxedo with a pink vest and tie with a pink flower. His white shoes? Custom made for our wedding! His feet are kind of large (size 17). So that's funny. To kick off the weekend, I thought I'd share a picture of my beautiful husband in his white and pink attire. Have a good weekend! (And if you're lucky, soon I'll share the lost hotel room story).

wedding cake

To off-set my grumpy mood, I thought I would share pictures from my wedding. These shots are the funniest ones. Let me set the mood for you: at this point of our reception, I had been threatening Big A about mean things I would do if he even touched a sliver of cake to anywhere BUT my mouth. Our beautiful cake! I'm playing nice at this point I thought, "wow, these will be really boring pictures...so..." ...I went for it! So funny ! Big A dropped his piece on my dress (don't worry, it didn't ruin my dress. We did find some frosting later...haha) but do you know the saddest part? That was all the cake we ate that night. We didn't really taste our wedding cake until the next day, and we only had a little. We did have a small cake that we froze to eat on our one year anniversary (it was SO good!).

happy 2nd anniversary

Well, it's been two years since we said "I do." Two years of uh-ohs and mistakes. Two years of learning and growing together with God. Two years of tears of joy and hardships. Two years of growing up while trying to stay young. Two years since we committed for a lifetime. Big A, These haven't been the hardest nor easiest two years of my life. But they have been my favorite two years. I love you more today than the day I married you. I love learning and loving with you. I love watching you be an amazing husband and terrific daddy. I couldn't ask for more. Lovely

beautiful wedding

Today one of my best friends got married...the Trees I was telling you about. Oh, the ceremony was just beautiful! After the welcome & prayer, I went up to read. The pastor didn't give me any indication that he was ready (he later apologized) so after a "dramatic pause" (as the bride told the crowd), one of the bridesmaids (who was also kind of befuddled at the lack of introduction to Scripture) turned around & cued me (I was in a room off the front of the church). Then I read Ephesians 5:21-33 out of the Message Bible & Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 out of the NIV. I like the Message verses...I've honestly never read anything out of the Message. I LOVE the Eccl. verses; probably some of my favorite ones. After I sat down, I heard Moose crying in the back so I snuck out the side to sit with him and Big A. One of my friends Skinny Mom and her son, Cute-as-a-Button (we'll call him Button for short), were back there, too. Skinny is one of those ultra-fashionable ...

no wrestling

So Big A hurt his knee during wrestling practice so no wrestling this weekend. He's super disappointed...I think he feels like he's letting other people (i.e. me, his wrestling coach, his boss) down. He's not. I want him healthy and unhurt more than I'd like to see him kick some butt. And I really just want to see his butt in a singlet. I'm just glad it's not a serious injury. I'm sure if he were to wrestle tomorrow, it would just get worse. Poor guy. I know he was so excited about it. Tonight we went to my friends, the Trees' wedding rehearsal. It was so fun. I always see this one girl, Bubbly, at weddings. She & I knew one another in college but she played volleyball, I (at the time) didn't play sports nor did I hang out at the party scene. But she is so open to just sharing about her life. About breaking up with her boyfriend & crying herself to sleep over it (they're ok now...just friends). I just feel like she and I get to have these...

wrestling and wedding

I'm super excited for this weekend, although it does mean a long week. Monday & Wednesday, Big A is practicing wrestling with his high school coach & some boys. Tuesday we are having supper at the Spiderleg residence. Big A does have the opportunity to throw hay for someone to make some extra cash; I don't know if he'll do it or not. The S family is going on a mini-vaca/interview trip to Virginia (pray this is where God is leading them and that the opportunity is wide open for them) for the rest of the week, so we won't see them until they get back and then the real world overtakes everyone. Thursday seems to be our only free day. Friday is our friends, the soon-to-be Mr. & Mrs. Tree (they are super tall)'s wedding rehearsal. I have the great opportunity to get to read Scripture at their wedding, so I'm invited for all the festivities and free food! ha! It means so much to me that she has invited me to be a part of her special day, AND to read God...
