You're Loved No Matter What by Holley Gerth (book review)

When I decided to review " You're Loved No Matter What " by Holley Gerth, I don't think I was expecting a whole lot from it (sorry, Holley). Gerth's previous books have spoken much truth and yet I was expecting fluff in this book. Yet, what I found inside the covers of this book is so much more. image via Amazon.com Truth, much truth, flows out of this book. I should have known how deep it would touch me just by the back copy print: "As women, we tend to think that if we could only get our act together, life would be perfect. But you're not supposed to be perfect. You're supposed to be human. And humans are messy, flawed, glorious, and deeply loved. It's time to lay down those unrealistic expectations that exhaust you. It's time to embrace who you are - even the messy parts. It's time to start living fully instead of just trying not to fail. Let's do this together." Hallelujah, right ladies? Aren't you tired, ...

perfect? hardly. real? I think so.

I had a super hard conversation with a friend today, a friend who I love very much, even though she thinks I hate her. At the end of the conversation, I was really made to feel bad. We had talked about sins and it was brought up that she had seen me hit Moose in the head with a coloring book and call him an idiot. I don't remember the incident directly but I don't doubt it one bit. To be perfectly honest and to lay it all out there, parenting has brought out the worst in me. To be fair, it's also brought out the best in me. I've never felt happier. And I've never felt angrier. It's like it brought out my bipolar side. My children are safe but they are not always cuddled. My children are happy but they are disciplined.  I think it's safe to say marriage has brought out those best/worst sides as well. I don't yell at anyone quite as well as I yell at Big A. I also don't treat anyone quite as sweetly as I treat him.  I believe it's completely sa...
