My friend, Erin, from Home with the Boys is hosting 31 Days of Being a Woman on her blog. This past weekend, she wrote about influence - how we influence others and others whom influence us. She asked us to write a post about the woman/women who influence us. What a hard prompt. I have women who influence me in different areas (fashion, parenting, loving others, being a wife, fitness). I don't have ONE woman, ONE friend who totally influences me in everything right now. While I still haven't found that one person who I can call when I'm feeling down or who I feel I can talk to about everything, I've come to realize I don't need one person to be the BESTEST BEST friend ever. I have different friends who are in my life for different reasons. Getting a picture of both of my boys is proving to be more of a challenge as they age. This shot isn't bad but the photographer needs to zoom. And then the demanding lady wanted a picture of both of their funny faces. Here's a shot of Moose's funny face...but not Squirt's... They were both getting a little antsy... Here's a shot of Squirt's funny face, but not Moose's... Oh well, you can't win 'em all

We have this program on our computer called "Photo Booth" and it's fun. You can take video or pictures (or multiple pictures). Moose LOVES it and calls it "pictures." He'd do it all day if it were up to him. There are a few backgrounds that move (like this rollercoaster one) and I got him to put his hands up as if he were really riding a rollercoaster - he'll be so much fun like that some day.

 For this week's Boys in Motion post, I wanted to share Moose with you. This kid is not one that is ALWAYS in motion, but when he is, watch out! He's a fireball just bursting at the seams with energy. Much of his day is spent playing with small cars or trains, so it seems his energy is stored up for outside play or athletics. He is our athlete - he's always loved footballs, basketballs, volleyballs  - all of them. Last week, he found a volleyball our niece left here .... and decided it would be best put to use as a soccer ball. In the third picture, he is actually trying to dribble it like a basketball - it was adorable and I wish I'd have caught it on video. But the thing about boys in motion is that sometimes the motion is gone as quickly as it came. Moose is my sweetheart - my mama's boy (although Squirt is in that stage, too). He loves his mama but I see the times a'changing as he clings more to his daddy. The good thing is that he will be able to do ...

My friend Erin, who blogs at Home with the Boys , has a wonderful linky on Fridays: Boys in Motion. If there is one thing my boys are, they are always in motion. Every day we take a walk around our town square and at least one person comments on their energy. "Wish I could have half that energy," or "I wish I could bottle that energy," or "They sure have some energy, don't they?" And it's true, my boys are energetic and sometimes hard to keep up with! Thankfully, I have gained much more energy in the past year (with losing weight, comes energy...most days). Squirt is the more energetic of the two boys. He hardly sits down (although I think part of that comes with his age). When there is music going, he's dancing fiercely! There are no slow dances with this boy. He rocks as hard to our Seeds of Faith music as he does to our Walk the Line soundtrack. It's so fun to watch him dance to Twinkle Twinkle or Party in the USA. In the past fe...

Moose loves to run.  One of his favorite phrases is "go go go!"  You can attribute this to the movie Cars or just his love of all things that go  (they probably correlate somewhere in there).  It's such a blast to see the love he gets out of running. Squirt pretty much loves to do whatever it is that Moose does.  Running is #1 on his list, too.  He seems to run for a reason beyond pure joy:  generally taking a toy from his brother and well... running like he stole it.  This cape is such a wonderful toy for the boys.  I put it on them and instantly, you see a change in their face and attitude.  It's as if they believe they are invincible.  Everything about them lights up.  It's amazing the effect a piece of cloth can have on a little boy  (and perhaps a little girl?).  I can only hope my own running can someday bring me such unequivocal joy. Good morning to you all! Today is Friday and this is my last guest poster, Erin. We became friends through MOPS and now are bloggy friends. She is really amazing so I'll stop writing and let her! 6:30 a.m. Are they SERIOUSLY awake already?! Yes, I admit this thought crosses my mind quite frequently when my two tow-headed little boys get out of bed before my mind is functioning properly. Not a great start to the day admittedly, but I'm just being honest here. And that's when I need to head to my knees. Even better, get on my knees BEFORE they get up. Children are a gift from the LORD; they are a reward from him. ~Psalm 127:3 After worshipping my Lord in the morning, I want this to be the next prayer from my lips. A reminder of just how blessed we are to have these young men. A chance to focus on the beauty of motherhood, instead of the chaos and craziness that only moms of boys can understand.
