help out in Joplin, MO

My old MOPS leader posted this on FB and I thought I would share with you. In cases of devastation like the Joplin, MO tornadoes, you may feel like I do: very insignificant and unable to help. I can't send hundreds of dollars or even myself to help in Missouri. However, this is a way that I can help out in a small way that could have a lot of impact. Hey MOPS mamas the Joplin, MO MOPS has created a Amazon wish list for tornado victims. PLEASE check it out and see if there is anyway you can help. http://www.amazon.com/wishlist/16TWZAI8H QPZC/ref=cm_wl_rtxt?_encoding=UTF8&revea l=unpurchased And please continue in prayer for them. Devastating.

oh Moose...

Today Big A went back to work so I took the boys to MOPS with me. It was a struggle to even get in the door because I had a meal for a mom who just had a little guy (who is adorable) and cookies for a cookie exchange, my boys, diaper bag, and the car seat of course. Some ladies held the door for me and then I was told I had to wait to check my boys in to the nursery. I waited like 10 minutes before other moms started just going ahead of me because I didn't know what I was doing because I'd never taken my kids there before. Finally after maybe 15 more minutes, someone helped me. I got the kids settled in, knowing full well that Moose wasn't going to stay there and knowing full well that Squirt would as long as someone held him. I told them this too. :) We had announcements and prayer and were just in line getting food when a lady came to get me for Moose. He was just screaming, inconsolable "mommy!" A girl I knew when I went to college was in the nursery so that wa...

God's call

Church today was good. The pastor who started (I think) the People's City Mission spoke about the early church. How everyone back then had a mission of their own rather than just being the audience in the congregation. It wasn't about listening to a message but spreading the Word. He challenged us to all talk to God about a vision, our own mission. For awhile now, God's been speaking to my heart about my mission. I know it's something involving women. The specifics of my mission are more unclear. I'm not sure if it's starting a MOPS group or leading a Bible study for college girls. I think it's leaning more toward the MOPS group. Today the pastor said that sometimes God puts us in certain places because that's our mission. Well, I'm a mother of preschoolers. I don't know everything about being a mom, a Christian, a leader...but I'm willing to be obedient to Him and learn. Now I just need to get the juevos to talk to our pastor about this and ...

why my husband is the best/Wordful Wednesday

Image
Alright, I could go on and on about why Big A is the best husband in the world (yes, even better than yours...sorry). BUT for today I will focus on ONE thing and ONE thing only: MOPS. Once a month, me and other Mothers of Pre-Schoolers (hence, MOPS) get together to gab, eat, be creative, and learn about the theme of the month. My very good friend Mama A-Team got me involved in this (God bless her!) organization (which you should check out if you are a mama of a pre-schooler). Anyway, while we do all of those lovely womanly things, we get to do this sans children. Some of the moms in my MOPS group have 6 children so I know this is a lovely little treat for them (and for me who has a lonely only for now). Tuesday, I got to MOPS after having left Moose with Big A as he had the day off of work. I figured there would be less tears this way. I got there and the Steering Committee (the ones who steer us through the year) were talking about how short they were in the daycare portion of MOPS...

LONG walk

Today was MOPS playgroup at a park across town at 10ish. So around 9:15 or so I decide we'll walk there and stop by the bank & library on the way to and from. I slather the boy with sunscreen & off we go. We stopped at the bank about halfway there & put A's check in the bank & talked to our favorite banker! We got to the playground a little bit after 10. By this time, Tristan is just tired. He was up at 7:45 & hadn't taken a nap yet. So we talked to our friend TA & I let him climb some of the stairs on the playground and go down the little slide. Then he was hungry so I gave him a bottle. He decided to be cuddly & lay on my shoulder until he heard baby R crying (TA's daughter) & so he played with her a bit. Then we sat around with his little "girlfriend," J. A little after 11 we decided to head home. We stopped by the library (which is about halfway home) & got a few Dr. Seuss books, a movie for Moose (Peter Pan), & a mo...
