Yurbuds (review & GIVEAWAY!)

Image
I can't remember the first time I heard about Yurbuds - possibly on a running blog or magazine. I'm not really a tech-geek so I don't really stay up on what's new in the techy world. I don't text so obviously I'm not into the iPhones. My iPod is older and a hand-me-down. We don't own an iPad or any other tablet (although our kids do have a Leap Pad). Cutting to the chase, I don't care about gadgets - much. I don't know if you really consider headphones to be gadgets, but they go with electronics, so I do. I knew from the moment I saw their sweet ads that I wanted Yurbuds. Their price tag was a little out of my range ($29.99 - $50) for headphones. It's hard for me to recommend buying something so expensive that's so tiny. However, once I tried these Yurbuds Inspire sport earphones out - they are worth the money! love all the colors! What color would you choose? Why? 1. These earphones were "developed by women for women" ...

birthday pictures!

My birthday was March 23 - thank you, Stacey, for being my only friend to wish me a happy one on  my birthday post. :)   Anyway, the day was laid back - last official day of spring break for Moose. We got to hang out with our friend M for a few hours. He and Squirt colored some birthday printables...in exchange for gummy worms.  After M went home, me and my boys headed to the park. Upon our return, there was this beautiful pot of flowers on our back doorstep. Thank you, Big A! I love that they aren't just a bouquet but will last awhile. Squirt: I 'mell your flowers!  I spent the afternoon baking apple bread (for my book party Saturday), a peach-blueberry pie, and lasagna. We had friends stop by to chat and I invited them to stay for supper. We all ate outside - this weather is so lovely! Then we came back in for some pie. I think it was delicious! On Saturday, I had my book party/open house. It was a great turnout! Very laid back. The book...

running shoes? help!

I scoured the internet for running shoes tonight for hours. Seriously. There are so many choices but 1. I don't have that much money. I have $120 - which is a lot of money but shipping costs can add up. 2. All of the cool color combos I have found in shoes I like....are men's and they don't have my size. 3. The coolest looking ones are minimalist ones and I'm not sure I want to make that plunge. If I don't like how I feel when I run in them, I can't return them. I don't have that money to waste. If anyone has a size 9 or 9.5 that they would like to loan me to try (or just give me) I'm game. LOL 4. I kind of do want to try minimalist but again, scared it won't be for my body. Nike Free Runs are awesome though. 5. Really wish I had the money for Nike ID shoes - I designed some sweet ones tonight! 6. My husband is awesome and said we can go to the closest "big" town to look for shoes this Wednesday. So I need to know what I'm looking...

Bondi Band (review & giveaway)

Image
I have two Bondi Bands that I wear religiously when I run - I just like them better than other bands I've used to keep my hair out of my face. They are wide enough to get the job done and are cute enough that I just like to wear them! You can read my first review on them here . This time around, Rebecca let me try out a new Bondi Band and one of their Wicking Sweat Towels. Since I've already tell you that I love Bondi Band headbands (and have helped out the BB business by wearing them to a recent 10K; at least one of my friends has ordered a cool band!), I'll tell you more about the Wicking Sweat Towels. I'm a mucus-y runner. I spit and snot rocket constantly. It's gross, I realize this. However, breathing when I run is necessary so I do it. However, when I run inside, I can't. It's very hard for me to run inside. Usually I use paper towels but then they're all wet and get other stuff in the cup holders (cell phone, iPod) wet, too. Again, my apologi...

Outside PR review & GIVEAWAY!

Image
Outside PR is this awesome company that I have worked with on past reviews. They recently hooked me up with some sweet Ryders Hex sunglasses AND a giant sample pack of Gu products (including Gu, Roctane, Chomps, Brew) for my upcoming 10K (which is not a race but just a goal as I amp up my training for the Lincoln Half-marathon in May). I'll be honest, I haven't had a chance to try out the sunglasses. I haven't ran outside since...October? November? I'm unsure at this point when the last time was...but I miss it! I could wear these sunglasses as every day ones but I don't want them to get scratched up like my other Ryders (that I won off of a giveaway - see? you could be like that!). And these look like running sunglasses, not fashion ones...but mostly I don't want them scratched. I've tried them on and modeled them for Big A - he likes them but these are a women's pair of glasses so too small for his face. Ryders is celebrating their 25th anniver...

Sweaty Bands (review)

Image
When I'm running - or in the past when I played volleyball or softball - the last thing I wanted to worry about was my hair. Pony tails and braids are my choice (although less of the latter because I can't braid). However, sometimes I have layers cut in my hair (like now) when not all of my hair fits back into a pony tail holder. Then I have the dreaded flyaways! If I don't hold them back with clips or bobby pins then they get in my face BUT clips & pins don't stay. And more annoying than flyaways is trying to fix my hair while running or playing sports. I wish I had known in my 14 year softball career about Sweaty Bands ! There are loads of headbands and other bands to hold back your hair online and in stores. However, a lot of them are sports-only headbands. They aren't cute (and often times not functional). I may be sweating while working out but I prefer to at least look a little bit girly! Sweaty Bands are a great combination of cute and function. I...
