baby's first hair cut

Image
I finally gave in. Moose needed a hair cut. His hair was ALWAYS in his eyes and would get ratty at the ends. So after Mommy & Daddy got hair cuts, it was Moose's turn. Daddy held him in his lap while Mommy manned the camera. We did get it done at a beauty school (we're still cheapos lol). However, Moose wiggled too much for the student, so the teacher made the snips. Ok so I didn't cave in all the way; the curls are still in tact. I'm just not ready to let that part go yet. I promise I will...someday.

This is one of my new favorite pictures of Moose. He looks SO much like Big A did when he was a kid in this shot. And I think it's hilarious that he thinks a dump truck is a chair. Weirdo. LOL

mom books

I love to read books about mothering by other moms. Christian or not, most of them hit the spot...mostly. However, I have yet to find a book that doesn't talk about having a career before children. I know I'm not the only mom who had kids in college. Where are the books directed at us? I think having children at that stage in my life has made me have differing needs than other moms. I never supported myself with work. I never had work girl friends, really. I only had 3 months of marriage before I got pregnant. If you have any book suggestions, I'm open. Otherwise, maybe I'll write my own. :)

today was a better day

Not 100% great but better. However, next week doesn't look to improve. We're off this weekend and the one kid doesn't like one of the guys that is working. Guh-reat. But we'll see. I can't do anything about it.

smells bad

I live with 6 stinky teenage boys, 1 stinky adult man, 1 stinky boy toddler, and there are up to 3 other males that live here part-time. Seriously! So...my question for YOU is....have you ever used a personal aromatherpy essential oil diffuser necklace? I'm thinking it would help me smell better things during the day. Anyone ever use one or know someone that used one?

I'm here...I promise

I just spend all of my time over at the big side of the house with our boys. I come over here to put Moose down for a nap, give him a bath, and put him to bed. Otherwise, I come over to get filtered water and to crash for the night. Things are going alright. Today was an easier day than I thought it would be. It's frustrating because there's so much I can't share with you because of HIPPA, but *shrug*. I've really gotten to know a few of the boys, a few of the others seem to be opening up. Overall, we have a nice bunch. It is tiring, emotionally and physically. And Moose makes it more so. He has attached himself to a few of the boys. And one of them plays video games. Moose LOVES to watch Guitar Hero but he also likes other games. Unfortunately, they play Grand Theft Auto, which is TOO violent and the language is too coarse for Moose. So I've asked them that if they play that game to do so in our game room with the door closed. Moose gets mad when he can't get i...

he is my favorite kid ever!

Moose did this a few weeks ago, but then I couldn't get him to do it again. Until tonight. I was singing "Hush Little Baby" to him while he was winding down before bedtime. And just at the right time, he says "mama." So it goes something like this: Me: Hush little baby, don't say a word... Moose: mama Me: 's gonna buy you a mocking bird and if that mocking bird won't sing... Moose: mama And on and on it goes until the end. Oh my gosh, I don't know what makes my heart melt more than that kiddo. He's so funny and incredibly sweet. I wouldn't trade him for anything!! On another note, Valentine's Day is coming up and I was wondering: what are your plans for the national day of LOVE?? Personally, I don't have plans. We're not working, but I don't think we're planning a date or anything. We'll probably stay home and maybe rent a movie.

the first day

Well, let me just say that I think we had the easiest first day EVER. Two of our boys were on home visits, 2 had to work later in the day, not one of them watched the Super Bowl with us. And it was so nice having another teaching-parent on with us to tell us things they didn't teach us in training. I'm sure there will be more of that to come. But I like the boys so far. I'll write more tomorrow when we're off. But thanks for all of you who showed love through your comments (write them more often! ha). And to answer Tiffany, I am feeling much better except for the sick, nasty poopie diaper that made me run for the toilet. Yay. Otherwise, I'm feeling the stretching of tummy muscles (?? I'm not sure I have those) and feeling good with a sensitive nose. ...Sorry I had to go to bed. Not that that was productive whatsoever - Moose is sick. So I'm probably just as tired today as I was last night. Anyway, I cleaned up while all but one of the kids went shopping and...
