family updates

Not much news in the way of family. I am feeling much better (mostly) - thank You, Lord! I'm still not up for doing much around the house, but I can get some laundry done and have even done dishes (that smell is awful, let me tell you). Today I have kiddo home sick. Poor Moose. He was warm at bedtime and shivering. Even at church that morning, he kept saying he was cold. It's cold. It's Kansas. I didn't think much of it. Then after I'd turned out the lights for myself, I heard him up and in the bathroom. Diarrhea. Poor thing. I heard him a few other times in the night, but he's definitely growing up. He didn't come to me even once, although I did get up to check on him. So while we're enjoying back-to-back movies (something we only do when someone is sick), I thought I'd write on my blog (before writing more book reviews). My belly is getting bigger. This picture was taken a few weeks ago (I'm 19 weeks today). I've been running sti...

IEP updates

I had two IEP meetings last week. Now, if you watch Parenthood (as I love to do), I will say that I don't understand why that lady last week was freaking out about IEPs. I don't think they are THAT difficult or scary. But we've worked with a really great school system, so that helps, I guess. Anyway, the first was for Squirt. They have dismissed him from speech therapy. His speech is not perfect, but it is age appropriate. No, we will not celebrate this for now as I'm not sure how to do that without making it seem like speech therapy is "bad" and we still have one in it, so...yeah. Yay for Squirt! At this meeting, I was asked if he will attend Kindergarten next year. Answer: about 90% yes. My concerns are from his emotional state; I think he's a little lacking there (and by that he whines - a lot - especially when he doesn't get what he wants now. Yes that's typical of a 4yo but it seems different). Academically, the kid is there. He is smart. ...

lately

Lately I have been... ...trying to stay off the computer (some days are more successful than others). ...borrowing 40 (literally, I think) CDs from the library. ...making string art  ...if you're interested in one, let me know. I have some pretty cool ideas. ...signing up for my first craft fair (selling crafts versus Usborne books). ...finishing listening to Roots. Highly recommended! ...keeping house. I really like the schedule I'm using now - simple and effective (mostly). ...running. 14 miles tomorrow. So far this training is going so well! ...learning about God's holiness and how opposed our natures are to that. Reading Ezekiel. ...trying to stay warm. It's very cold the past few days. Such a contrast from almost 70 Monday. ...praying more. About a lot of things. Need prayer? I'm more than happy to do so! ...teaching children's church to kindergartners. Not every weekend. ...reading "Wild Things" and learning about how my b...

running update

I realize I haven't really posted about running much lately (after I sucked it up writing 30 posts in 30 days about fitness haha). Running is going extremely well. I've been running 4 days a week, trying to do another workout at least 2 times a week, and playing in a volleyball league (that ends tonight, sad). We've had some beautiful weather up until this weekend (even this isn't bad though) here in Kansas. Last week I was running in a tank top and capris! I'll have to start hitting the treadmill here soon more often, which is sad but I'm hoping some audio books will pump me through the winter blues. My left toe was hurt last April/May and I took time off. I think I'm up to a decent level of fitness and endurance. I haven't ran over 6 miles since then because 1) no reason and 2) now my shoes are getting worn out. I've actually gotten just over 300 miles on this pair of Nike Pegasus +28. I tried a pair of Brooks Pure Cadence but they killed my to...
