easy peasy DIY catapult

Image
This morning we had a 10am late start for school due to icy conditions. Squirt asked me to "make the bwown fing [brown thing] that Hawley Quinn [Harley Quinn is the Joker's girlfriend in Batman stuff sometimes] has." Um...what? He showed me a picture in a Lego Batman book of Harley Quinn using a catapult to launch a pie at Batman and Robin. He loves when I make things. I've been working on a sling for when he wants to be King David. I made one the other day but it doesn't work well. I'm thinking Christmas gift via Etsy. The catapult was as easy as searching "DIY catapult" on Google. Here's the website I used. Moose had fun but he really just wanted to eat the marshmallows. And yes, we did eat some but folks, it was 8:30am! I plan to make some more for partial Christmas gifts. I think these could be hours of fun!

The Gruffalo (DVD review & giveaway)

Image
Today, I finally convinced my sons to watch The Gruffalo with me. They are little creatures of habit and love to watch the same things over and over again. I can gladly say that I now The Gruffalo will be added to their "List of Most Watched" shows.  I had never heard of the book "The Gruffalo" except through a blog post by my friend, Erin. So I was unsure of how I'd like this movie, having never read the book (and books are generally better than any movie!). But oh, this was precious. I really loved the animation - I don't know what kind it was but almost a claymation type. The story was so fun; here's a synopsis from NCircle Entertainment: Synopsis Based on the best-selling children’s book, The Gruffalo is a magical tale of a mouse who takes a stroll through the woods.  Encountering three predators who all wish to eat him, the adorable and confident mouse has to use his wits to survive.  He tells his predators that he is meeting a monster, ...

Aurora: Are We There Yet? (review & giveaway)

Image
I had the opportunity to review a few items from Aurora's new line: " Are We There Yet ." Aurora World Inc. is known for these popular items: YooHoo & Friends ™, Milly ™, Dreamy Eyes ™ and many more popular plush toy and gift brands and characters. Their new line features plush toys, backpacks (with the "leashes" - I totally need those for my kids), neck rests, and "My Name Is" ID tags - everything you need to make it from Point A to Point B on vacation, trip to Grandma's, or even across town. The line is based on Aurora's popular monkey character, Cheeky Charlie, and his jungle pals! We received a monkey neck rest and two "My Name Is" ID tags.  We went on a trip out to my parents' house just after receiving these items. I couldn't get Moose to keep the neck rest on at all; I don't think he likes the feeling of something around his neck (I've noticed when he wears his Superman cape, he dislikes how tight it is on...

sensory tubs

Image
I want to venture into the world of sensory tubs. I've found a few other blogs that promote the use of them and give ideas of how to put them together. I have a few problems though: - what is the purpose of sensory tubs? - what are the key elements to a good tub? - are there any toddler-friendly tub ideas? (i.e. my little one will put everything in his mouth) - how do you dye rice? via here Right now my ideas for tubs are this: - Valentine's Day (if I can get something put together fast enough) - Sesame Street - transportation Any ideas or advice in this area where I'm definitely clueless would be great. Thanks!

snacks

Image
My boys eat two snacks per day. I'll be honest, they eat a lot of crackers. Ritz, goldfish, graham, saltine. Frankly, I know it's probably not good for them to eat that many crackers. They don't need that many carbs in a day (I'm not trying to put them on a diet or anything but I do want them to eat healthily). So here's my question: what do your kids have for snacks? Do you know any healthy, cheap, and easy snack ideas (preferably ones I don't have to feed the baby)?
