Boys in Motion: marble run

Image
Once upon a time,  there was a little boy named Moose. Moose was in love... with marbles. It all started with an Ok Go music video. Then it expanded to marble runs. They.were.everywhere. A friend's house, play group, and preschool. I looked online from Etsy to Amazon. I couldn't find what I wanted or they were too much moolah! Then something amazing happened. At pre-school dropoff, Miss Jane had something for Moose. His very own marble run!

Getting a picture of both of my boys is proving to be more of a challenge as they age. This shot isn't bad but the photographer needs to zoom. And then the demanding lady wanted a picture of both of their funny faces. Here's a shot of Moose's funny face...but not Squirt's... They were both getting a little antsy... Here's a shot of Squirt's funny face, but not Moose's... Oh well, you can't win 'em all

Boys in Motion: fix it!

Image
Moose has a new-ish Thomas the Tank Engine set he plays with daily (you bet!). The trains are old but one is new of course, that's Thomas and he is blue. The trains sometimes fall off the track Moose used to get upset, he'd crack! Now he puts them on without help he does not scream or even yelp. The trees are a different tale; they fall over and he'll yell. My heart breaks when he calls out his face twisted into a pout. I want to help, to fix it for him. but I cannot go out on that limb. He needs to learn to do it alone I won't always be there to pick up the phone. My heart breaks as he asks for my assistance whether fixing the train or putting on pants. Makes me wonder if that's how God may feel, like He wants to drive behind the wheel. There are lessons to be learned even when His help is yearned. I wonder if His heart does break with all the hard knocks we sometimes take. But as I've learned with my own son often it's worth it when it's d...

Boys in Motion: Curtains

Moving is hard. Always bittersweet. Leaving friends (and MOPS groups). Changing routines. It can be exciting. New home to make your own. New friends (or grow closer to friends). New school (in our case, first school). New routines, new playgrounds. (when it thaws) But I will miss this house. We moved in full of anticipation of staying...forever. Spacious and cheap! However, I will mostly miss... the curtains. They never worked correctly. And so our boys began to hide and play within them. My boys don't often play "together" but they have such fun in pieces of cloth. Laughing. Running. Smiling. Enjoying. And I enjoy to watch.

We have this program on our computer called "Photo Booth" and it's fun. You can take video or pictures (or multiple pictures). Moose LOVES it and calls it "pictures." He'd do it all day if it were up to him. There are a few backgrounds that move (like this rollercoaster one) and I got him to put his hands up as if he were really riding a rollercoaster - he'll be so much fun like that some day.

Snow has not come our way (yet)  so we took the time to play  OUTSIDE probably one last time for the year. Charlie Brown's Christmas Tree - what Moose said this branch was dirt - oh dear "Little Bear" fishing surprisingly, he didn't stick this in his mouth (that I noticed) who doesn't love a good run through leaves? yeah..so the little one doesn't stick a pinecone in his mouth but the big one eats dirt ... BABY DOWN BIG BOY DOWN not pushing, I promise, just tossing leaves at him Too bad the weather can't stay this way.  Merry Christmas Eve!
