this should be good...

As some of you (aka my real-life friends) may know, I used to play softball. Actually I used to live softball. I played for 14 years (yes, that's right). I played from when I was 5 years old (or approximately that) until the summer season after my first (and only) college season. So I was, what?, 19 when I stopped playing. I felt it was time for me to give it up as I just wasn't enjoying the game much (and not playing barely at all). Let me just say that I was an ok player. I didn't have the talent as many of my teammates but I had the passion, drive, and determination that made me a hard worker. Plus, if I do say so myself, I was a DARN good outfielder. Batting, not so much. I was a solid hitter but nothing special. Anyway, after a college season of not playing (like, ever), I didn't really see my playing time having much opportunity the following year. BUT really, my r eal real reason for not playing was God. I just felt like He was telling me that I was too competiti...

Wordful Wednesday

Why I love to go upstairs... Whenever I go upstairs in our apartment (whether to put away laundry or potty), I hear a little cry (sometimes followed by a much larger cry). I know at that point Moose has realized that I am not in his immediate sight. He usually can figure out I'm upstairs. At which point, he comes over to the stairs. He climbs the bottom stair and sits on his knees. Sometimes he waits patiently for my reappearance. Other times, Moose does NOT wait patiently, but rather will cry the entire time I'm upstairs. I don't mind much. I know he misses me, even if I'm only gone for a split-second. And as I come down the stairs, I see these little peepers peeking up at me through the baby gate. As I get closer, I see almost-white hair poking over the top. Finally, as I'm almost to the bottom, I see this giant baby smile, all for me! And as I gently climb over the gate (trying not to step on said baby), I squat down and pick up my handsome boy-in-waiting to give...

did you see?

Did you watch the Husker game on Saturday? Yes....we did get killed by Missouri....big time. 52-17. Ouch. But that's not the cool part! MY husband was on ESPN! Apparently in the first quarter, the camera panned in on his handsome, smiling face. We got phone calls, emails from people "did you see Big A on tv?" Did I? No. We don't get ESPN. I missed my husband's television debut. Shoot. But a national audience did get to see it. Isn't he handsome?

tag!

Angie over at BLOOM tagged me (isn't she a sweetie?)! So here are the rules: 1. Link your tagger and list these rules on your blog. 2. Share 7 facts about yourself on your blog, some random, some weird. 3. Tag 7 people at the end of your post by leaving their names as well as links to their blogs. 4. Let them know they are tagged by leaving a comment on their blog. Seven Facts About Mrs. S: 1. I LOVE Star Wars! I think I posted about this once, but anyway. My dad used to work the night shift at a factory. When he would come home, I'd get up to greet him. Then I must not have wanted to go back to bed or something so he'd pop in our recorded version of Star Wars (oh the days of VHS). He'd lay down & fall asleep and I'd do just the same. I'm not sure when I first saw an entire episode/movie, but I do know they hold a special place in my heart. 2. I could eat popcorn for every meal and be very happy (and plump). Kettle korn and butter lovers are my favorite. As...

heebie jeebies

Maybe I shouldn't write this in case I do have a real-life stalker (which I don't think I do)... Anyway, I just wanted you to know what I hate more than being home alone. Being home alone at night with the baby. I hear EVERYTHING! Every creak and wind and every noise our neighbors make. Makes it creepy. I close all the doors & windows, turn on lights in every room I'm in. I even hate typing this now because I'm next to our window. *shiver* What gives you the creeps?

thank you thank you thank you

Praise God for His Faithfulness through my impatience. I heard from the dream job today! We have a date set for our visit, so now we just have to wait for them to make travel arrangements for us and make up an itinerary for us while we're out there. The great thing is that, not only do we get to see our best friends BUT Mrs. Spiderlegs will be able to watch Moose while we have a grown up interview (at least that's the plan). I can't tell you how much weight was taken off of my shoulders when I saw the area code come up on my cell phone and the cheery voice on the other end. Woo hoo! Again...praise God!

really?!?!

I just finished watching the Finale Results (why not just finale?) of America's Got Talent. And really, America?!?! Neal over Eli AND Nuthin' but Stringz (sorry if I spelled it wrong)?? Ok I get this guy has an amazing voice, I just didn't realize that so many people would vote for an opera singer. Especially when Eli was so adorable (c'mon, you know I'm a sucker for baby blues) and the violinists had this amazing sound. I guess for me, I would think about what performance I'd want to sit through for an hour and a half. That is why I never would have voted for the little 4-year-old, no matter how adorable those big ol' brown eyes are and how cute she sang. Seriously, an hour and a half of a little kid singing Disney songs...only if it were my own kid. Personally, I wanted the Frank Sinatra impersonator to win. He was just stinking cute (again with those contact-induced baby blues). I am glad that Elvis did not win. Sorry, he looked NOTHING like the King. H...
