Wordful Wednesday: hands

Image
Headed up to naptime. So sweet. No pulling, no yanking. Just hands held. Leading. Why can't it be like this all the time? ...because this wouldn't be nearly as sweet.

Seven Clown Circus (guest post)

Image
I (Randi) am on vacation this week...so lucky you! I have set up some amazing posts this week from some of my favorite bloggers. Today Angie from Seven Clown Circus joins us and shares her latest epiphany: I had an epiphany recently. It only took me 35 years to realize something: I will never make a good career woman (in a specialized area) because I get bored easily. I have a tendency to throw myself into whatever I'm doing, and after I've done it for a few years, I never want to do it again. So, it's probably not surprising that I didn't have a huge problem walking away from the work place and becoming a mother. I was kind of done with the whole work thing and wanted to try something new. I am so grateful that being a mother is not something that I can ever grow bored of, like a traditional job. Being a parent has brought me more fulfillment, joy, and sense of accomplishment than anything else I've ever done. Conversely, I've never been so...

Wordful Wednesday

Saturday was so beautiful, I couldn't resist going outside with Moose while the other two took a late nap. I thought coloring with chalk would be a lot of fun; I always love how sidewalks look after they've been colored on. Here's the reality: I can't draw any better than I could in kindergarten. But I tried for my son's sake.  Here's the challenge: can you guess who all of these are? Moose admiring my abilities. #1: these guys are just friends, no matter what you see on You Tube. #2: All monsters. #3: he's big and he's yellow, he's quite a nice fellow... #4: Bouncing's what he does best. #5: This guy is cuddly, little, loveable, wrapped in fur. He's _____-the-____. #6: Did you hear about the kid who wanted to know everything about everything? That's him! #7: Not the ones from Madagascar but from the above show. #8: Also from show #6 #9: The ladies from show #6 #10: evidence I can't draw but she...

book exchange!

I have been frequenting the local library looking for some interesting reads lately because, despite my large library of my own books, I haven't found anything calling my name to be read. Then my good friend, Angie of Seven Clown Circus fame, decided to host a bloggy book exchange. There are usually some good exchanges floating around the blogosphere, but I have never participated in any of them. And I, English literature geek that I am, was thrilled to participate in this one. I looked through my own library and chose some of my favorite books to send to my new friend, Rebekkah from Life with Kaishon . Then I awaited the arrival of her books for me. Here's what I got in the mail: I don't vlog very often because I think I look like a dork, but since my camera is floating with the fishes, I decided to let you have a peek at my living room. Excuse my stupid ending - I feel like such a dork taping myself. For those who can't see the video, here are the titles I received: ...

eat - drink - be scary

Alright...you caught me. I didn't make these delicious-looking cupcakes. But I would have... if I'd thought about it... and wanted to skip naptime. Hmmm... there's always next year. I did make brownies for a fellow MOPS Mom with a newborn. And my hubby made chocolate chip cookies last night. But there's still time today to make goodies...maybe later I'll get inventive. But for now, I need to go because Squirt is making me his own little Halloween "treat" right on my lap. Yay... Link up with Better in Bulk for actual goodies made by other Halloween enthusiasts. And don't forget to stop by Mama Kat's Losin' It , Seven Clown Circle , and Mayhem & Moxie to answer their daily questions for your last chance to enter to win a Flip camera-thinger (again, that's the technical name, for real).

WW: Ghosts of Halloween Past

Image
For this edition of Wordful Wednesday, I decided to go far back. Before kids, before marriage (I hardly remember it!!). Not before Big A...but then again, what fun would that be? These are pictures from 2005, my sophomore year of college, Big A's senior year. Let me just preface that this is where my Halloween costumes started going downhill. I had zero money so I pulled out a low-waisted dress, put some long necklaces on, and called myself a flapper. Anyway, the star of this Halloween was my handsome fiancee (at the time). Without further ado, I give you: Big A as Hulk Hogan Hulkamania - Runnin' Wild Doesn't he look awesome? Click to enlarge the pictures because he even has the facial hair down. I made his shirt!! The front said Hulkamania and the back said Runnin' Wild. He ripped it off at the end of the night - I wish I would've gotten that on video. Click yourself on over to Angie's Seven Clown Circus to participate in Ghosts of Halloween Past (and sign ...
