there's no place like home

A house is made of brick and stone,
A home is made of love alone.

I've read this quote countless times growing up; my mom had it on a picture thing in our house. And it is true, my home is really where my family is, my love. But I can't help but want a house. We've moved so many times that a house would symbolize stability and not moving again (at least not foreseeably).

We've looked at and fallen in love with several houses here in town. Nice ones that wouldn't need a lot of work (which is good because we don't know how to do that). We've also looked at many houses that would need more love than we could provide! I'm not against DIY projects but we would need something safe and readily available for us to move into - no way could we afford a house payment and rent.

Well, it doesn't seem that we can afford a house payment either. We crunched some numbers with a local bank and the outcome was poor. We aren't giving up total hope (mostly) and will look into another bank that some of our friends have recommended.

I just wish it wasn't so frustrating. If you're like me, when you tour a house, you can envision your family there - you have to in order to know if it's for you. But with that comes a sort of attachment. It's hard to see it slip away (especially when it's happened several times).

Be praying for us that God's Will be done (first and foremost) but that hopefully that Will includes us buying a house.

We own our house, but are not in love with it :) We keep looking and looking, but never quite finding what we need. It's so frustrating! I hope find something soon.

I'm totally and completely with you on this one Randi! We've been dying for a house too. Almost had our dream one and then the sellers backed out in the end. It really makes you a ball of emotions! Hang in there!!! One day we'll both have that house we've always wanted and deserve! :)

Oh dear! We just recently moved and I know the torture of looking at homes and loving them- only to have it not work out. Hang in there- your dream home is just around the corner. You deserve it!

Like my friend Erin shared in her "bragging" post, I don't necessarily want to "brag" about my boys but I am overjoyed at some of their accomplishments recently! So I will share with you! Moose is doing wonderfully at school. We moved him to the afternoon classroom and his teacher said that his behavior problems that they saw in the morning have virtually disappeared. Great! Twice last week (once at school and once at Sunday School) his teachers told me that he shared with someone. Greater (movie review)

Sports movies are some of my favorite ones; even better if they are underdog stories! "Greater" is just that - a true underdog story about Brandon Bulsworth who could be called the greatest walk-on in the history of college football. The movie follows Bulsworth from the time he's a kid. His mother is raising he and his brother (who is quite a bit older; old enough to be mistaken for his dad, laughably). His brother gives him a kick in the pants when Brandon claims he wants to play for the Arkansas Razorbacks. Brandon was a heavy kid so no one really thought it would happen. However, Brandon worked as hard as he could and made it. Walked on the team and caught the attention of his coach who put some amazing work into this kid to help him become better. I love when coaches look at the heart of a player more than ability. This really is an amazing story, an amazing movie - full of inspiration and encouragement. Big A is forever telling me to not say certain things on the road. Don't call me dear. Don't gasp or shout; I'll think there's a deer. Although these are paraphrased (and he claims he's never said the first one), these are the basis for this tale. We went to the Husker game last night. Scratch that - we worked at the Husker game last night. We helped his aunt (and her church) sell backrests as a fundraiser. Big A has done this most of last year & all of this year so far. He loves it. You sell backrests until kickoff, then you watch the game, and pick up the rests after. You're there 90 minutes before game time and for about an hour or so after the game. And you sometimes get leftover food (Runzas and hotdogs and popcorn - please fine out what a Runza is for those of you who aren't from Nebraska....it's so yummy!).
