Monday Meanderings (2/7/11)

Bible Study... I have the first chapter of Breaking Free that I think I'll start on. Then I do have Sally Clarkson's Mission of Motherhood that I borrowed from the library...so I'd like to start that before it has to be returned. :D

Memory Verse... I don't have a verse but want to go back over the verses that were in our sermon at church yesterday

Husband Encouragement...
♥ Laundry folded & put away
♥ Supper made or mostly made every night this week before I go to the gym
♥ Go over his Bible study together

Train Them Up...
* Get a Signing Time! video for Squirt to learn more signs (and hopefully say more words)
* Watch the school Signing Time DVD with Moose 1-2 more times before taking it back
* PLAY with them.
* start working 3-4 times a week on Moose's speech stuff

Personal Goals...
* Get my miles in
* not much else this week 

New Habit of the Month... 
* Get meals mostly ready for Big A during the week so when he gets home, I can head to the gym and he can still play with the kids instead of cooking

MUST Do... 
* write a reference letter for some friends
* check out other health insurance options for me
* read my Bible!

Zone...
* pick up the kids' clutter & shove it back in their play room :D

M - deer bologna (so tired of this but we have so much of it)

FUN THINGS! 
* Story time today with Squirt at our local library.
* Putting together a sensory tub for the boys
* MOPS (at my new MOPS group) tomorrow (re-scheduled)
* Make a social story for Squirt for MOPS

3 things I'm thankful for today... 
1. Being able to talk truthfully with my husband about our future
2. One-on-one time with Squirt
3. A wonderful preschool staff for Moose

MOB Society: Bragging on Boys

Like my friend Erin shared in her "bragging" post, I don't necessarily want to "brag" about my boys but I am overjoyed at some of their accomplishments recently! So I will share with you! Moose is doing wonderfully at school. We moved him to the afternoon classroom and his teacher said that his behavior problems that they saw in the morning have virtually disappeared. Great! Twice last week (once at school and once at Sunday School) his teachers told me that he shared with someone. What a sigh of relief that one is; sharing is so hard but to know that what I'm implementing at home is working (even the itsy bitsiest bit!) is a relief.  I've noticed that baby toys are most enjoyed by the older crowd. Moose is also reading! I got the sight word list that kindergarteners start off with from his teacher - he read them all for me this morning. I bought a Chuggington book for him on their last book order - he read it by himself after only having it read

Greater (movie review)

Sports movies are some of my favorite ones; even better if they are underdog stories! "Greater" is just that - a true underdog story about Brandon Bulsworth who could be called the greatest walk-on in the history of college football. The movie follows Bulsworth from the time he's a kid. His mother is raising he and his brother (who is quite a bit older; old enough to be mistaken for his dad, laughably). His brother gives him a kick in the pants when Brandon claims he wants to play for the Arkansas Razorbacks. Brandon was a heavy kid so no one really thought it would happen. However, Brandon worked as hard as he could and made it. Walked on the team and caught the attention of his coach who put some amazing work into this kid to help him become better. I love when coaches look at the heart of a player more than ability. This really is an amazing story, an amazing movie - full of inspiration and encouragement. We Choose Virtues (review & giveaway!)

I almost think I needed this Kids Kit from We Choose Virtues almost as much as my sons. I mean, check out this list: patience, kindness, obedience, diligence, forgiving, attentive, etc. I have such problems with patience and attentive (anyone else get distracted by stuff online?)! So I know that it's important to teach these virtues to my children, too (and learn alongside them). Jesus was patient, forgiving, obedient, diligent, forgiving, attentive, self-controlled, content, etc. We are supposed to imitate Jesus and so I thought this was a good way to help me teach them how to do that. image from the WCV website Like I said, I reviewed the Kids Kit.
