The first day of school went so well. I got Moose up and fed him breakfast. We read a story and played a little before I got Squirt out of bed. I quickly changed him and got their coats/hats/gloves on. We headed out the door and made it to school just before 8am. I took Moose in and he pretty much was ready to be rid of me. haha He took his coat/hat/gloves off and Miss D showed him where to hang them up (he has his own hook!). He picked up Buzz Lightyear and then Scar (from Lion King), barely gave me a hug, and I was off. I didn't cry...I teared up for awhile but I didn't cry!

Squirt & I went home, he ate his banana for breakfast. And we cuddled for awhile. Then we read stories and I chased him around the living room (he loves that). Seriously, we didn't do much at home. We sang songs...well, I sang and Squirt danced. Then we headed to the library before picking up "Bubba."

Moose and his classmates were headed out the door as I came to pick him up. He said good-bye to his teachers (I need to get pictures of his classmates so he learns their names easier) and wanted to ride the bus....I told him he gets to ride with his mama. He didn't (can't?) really tell me about his day but Miss D sent home a note (LOVE that), but just said "school over" - not upset or happy, just matter of factly. He said he wants to go back on Monday. AND he has school pictures on the 9th and can send valentines on the 14th. I'm excited for things like that.

His teacher's note said:
"Tristan had a GREAT day!
You are right! He loves music. He played in the water table with sharks and whales. He pushed the semi with farm animals in it. We fingerpainted a fish for group work. He went to the restroom at 10 and sat to urinate (haha...I love that she said that). We read an animal book and had a few crackers and chocolate milk for a snack. We did puzzles and sang songs. You guys are awesome parents. Tristan had great skills. You can really tell you guys have worked hard with him. Keep up the awesome work. IT shows :-)

She told me she was impressed by his skills and I just said Moose does a lot of hard work for me. And he does. Just this week he started to say "bless this Food to our bodies" instead of "bless this Bood to our bodies" for his meal prayer, and he says "Hummingbird" instead "Cummingbird." So proud of these little accomplishments!!

Anyway, that's all and I guess on Monday he'll go back to school. :D

Yahoo. Now that's a resolution I can stand behind. Too bad "to keep growing" is not the same for an adult as it is for a child. :)

Way to go Tristan! That must be a huge relief for you :) And we taught Rowan to pee sitting down too, lol. I know he'll learn how to stand on his own when he is ready :) Makes for MUCH less mess to clean up!

I am in love with his teacher already. She sounds fabulous to have written such a detailed note. Glad he had a great first day!

And that sock puppet - I think he needed a time out for taking the pacifier. :)

Oh, this note from Ms. D made me tear up! She's just amazing- and so are all the other teachers in his class! WOW! I'm so glad the first day went well and yes, she's right Randi- you do an amazing job with your sweet boy!

Awww...he is growing up. I remember how it was harder on me than it was on Aiyana when she started preschool. I cannot believe I am going to be registering her for kindergarten. Just thinking about it makes me tear up!

Like my friend Erin shared in her "bragging" post, I don't necessarily want to "brag" about my boys but I am overjoyed at some of their accomplishments recently! So I will share with you! Moose is doing wonderfully at school. We moved him to the afternoon classroom and his teacher said that his behavior problems that they saw in the morning have virtually disappeared. Great! Twice last week (once at school and once at Sunday School) his teachers told me that he shared with someone. What a sigh of relief that one is; sharing is so hard but to know that what I'm implementing at home is working (even the itsy bitsiest bit!) is a relief.  I've noticed that baby toys are most enjoyed by the older crowd. Moose is also reading! I got the sight word list that kindergarteners start off with from his teacher - he read them all for me this morning. Greater (movie review)

Sports movies are some of my favorite ones; even better if they are underdog stories! "Greater" is just that - a true underdog story about Brandon Bulsworth who could be called the greatest walk-on in the history of college football. The movie follows Bulsworth from the time he's a kid. His mother is raising he and his brother (who is quite a bit older; old enough to be mistaken for his dad, laughably). His brother gives him a kick in the pants when Brandon claims he wants to play for the Arkansas Razorbacks. Brandon was a heavy kid so no one really thought it would happen. However, Brandon worked as hard as he could and made it. Walked on the team and caught the attention of his coach who put some amazing work into this kid to help him become better. I love when coaches look at the heart of a player more than ability. This really is an amazing story, an amazing movie - full of inspiration and encouragement. Big A is forever telling me to not say certain things on the road. Don't call me dear. Don't gasp or shout; I'll think there's a deer. Although these are paraphrased (and he claims he's never said the first one), these are the basis for this tale. We went to the Husker game last night. Scratch that - we worked at the Husker game last night. We helped his aunt (and her church) sell backrests as a fundraiser. Big A has done this most of last year & all of this year so far. He loves it. You sell backrests until kickoff, then you watch the game, and pick up the rests after. You're there 90 minutes before game time and for about an hour or so after the game. And you sometimes get leftover food (Runzas and hotdogs and popcorn - please fine out what a Runza is for those of you who aren't from Nebraska....it's so yummy!).
