similarities

Since Squirt's birth, I have mostly heard how different he is from Moose. I beg to differ. I know they aren't twins, but there are some striking similarities. You know they are brothers.


What do you think? Do your children look alike? Do you look like your siblings? Does your pet look like you (I think that's weird but it happens!)?



PS: Tomorrow's the big day! Our half marathon is FINALLY HERE! Be praying for/thinking about us around 7AM (central time) tomorrow. Go S (Run) Club!

People used to ask whether me and my brother weren't twins. Even though I'm 2 years older... dur!
We looked about as similar as Squirt and Moose, to be honest...

Hey I hope all is well with you. Sorry I've not been able to go visiting since a goblin stole my mobile broadband chip from the dongle, and was reduced to half hour sessions at the internet cafe instead. I got a new card yesterday, so everything's back to normal. Hurrah!

Oh boy, I could write a book on this one! I have three siblings and we don't look that much alike--but we have a lot of familial resemblance--like our noses! So many of our mannerisms and vocalizations are similar though.

My 3 daughters are pretty different looking too--they are 1/4 hispanic and each portrays it differently. I worry sometimes about how people point out their differences in comparison to me and to each other.

I think it's cool to see how genetics work though!

That's so funny! People tell me my boys look like twins, which cracks me up. They do look like brothers, but there are definitely differences!

Like my friend Erin shared in her "bragging" post, I don't necessarily want to "brag" about my boys but I am overjoyed at some of their accomplishments recently! So I will share with you! Moose is doing wonderfully at school. We moved him to the afternoon classroom and his teacher said that his behavior problems that they saw in the morning have virtually disappeared. Great! Twice last week (once at school and once at Sunday School) his teachers told me that he shared with someone. What a sigh of relief that one is; sharing is so hard but to know that what I'm implementing at home is working (even the itsy bitsiest bit!) is a relief.  I've noticed that baby toys are most enjoyed by the older crowd. Moose is also reading! I got the sight word list that kindergarteners start off with from his teacher - he read them all for me this morning. Greater (movie review)

Sports movies are some of my favorite ones; even better if they are underdog stories! "Greater" is just that - a true underdog story about Brandon Bulsworth who could be called the greatest walk-on in the history of college football. The movie follows Bulsworth from the time he's a kid. His mother is raising he and his brother (who is quite a bit older; old enough to be mistaken for his dad, laughably). His brother gives him a kick in the pants when Brandon claims he wants to play for the Arkansas Razorbacks. Brandon was a heavy kid so no one really thought it would happen. However, Brandon worked as hard as he could and made it. Walked on the team and caught the attention of his coach who put some amazing work into this kid to help him become better. I love when coaches look at the heart of a player more than ability. This really is an amazing story, an amazing movie - full of inspiration and encouragement. We Choose Virtues (review & giveaway!)

I almost think I needed this Kids Kit from We Choose Virtues almost as much as my sons. I mean, check out this list: patience, kindness, obedience, diligence, forgiving, attentive, etc. I have such problems with patience and attentive (anyone else get distracted by stuff online?)! So I know that it's important to teach these virtues to my children, too (and learn alongside them).
