mold

There is mold in my basement.
There has been mold in my basement.
Our "land lord(s)" have known about it for months.
About a month ago, they sent in a guy (who does not specialize in mold) with a sponge and bucket.
He supposedly killed it.
Or not.
Now, there is mold on so much of our stuff down there (we haven't looked through it all).

The baby swing. The baby bouncer. The Boppy pillow. Toys. Shoes.

I'm so upset. I don't even know where to begin. Do I throw it out (probably not in case we have to go through our renter's insurance)? Who replaces that stuff?

I know it's just stuff but it's our stuff. Our memories.

GROSS!!!! You should check out the laws in your state about things like that...

Ugh, how frustrating! I hope you are able to get it resolved soon!
We have State Farm and they replaced our things.

The only way to clean/kill the mold is with bleach. Good luck!

If it makes you feel any better... when we moved and cleaned out our closet in Tecumseh we found many cherished items that had been partly eaten or used as bedding by escaped hamsters. The worst was pictures.

Just remember, stuff like toys and shoes and baby swings.. they are all able to be replaced. Your kids and you guys are healthy and thats what matters most!

Renters insurance might cover it. I'd check.

i work in real estate. when there is mold present, i often refer people to the EPA... here is their site.

epa.gov/mold
omg they should be held liable for that stuff.
Have you told them how it's spread? That's NOT good. I am so sorry

I am sure you know this, but mold can cause health problems. You need to get this taken care of asap. I would insist that the landlords get rid of the mold and if possible find a new place to live.
