Writer's Workshop

Choose a prompt, post it on your blog, and go to Mama Kat's and sign Mr. Linky. For good comment karma try to comment on the three blogs above your name!!

The Prompts:

1.) Write about a time when you were wrongly wronged.
(inspired by myself.)

2.) Geriatric peeping Tom neighbors? Do tell.

3.) Mommy play dates? What's your experience with mom dating?

4.) The first day of...

5.) Share your friendly advice for someone you think needs it (ie your mother-in-law, other drivers, cell phone users, etc.)

3. I've met my fair share of moms since giving birth to my little Moose two years ago. Moms were coming out of the woodwork. (It's like if you buy a Ford Taurus (which we just sold), all of a sudden you see Ford Tauruses everywhere on the road.)

However, I have not made bonds with many. I have my best mommy friend, the A-team mommy. And it's not like I have no other friends with kids! Many of my friends have had children, most of them after me (we started early in our marriage).

I have only ever had "mommy play dates" (well, joint mommy/baby play dates) with A-Mommy. I've had conversations with other mommy friends and one of us will say, "oh we should have a play date." Nothing has ever come to pass on those.

It's not like I don't want to have more time for my kids to play with other kids and me to have adult conversation (Lord knows I don't get enough of that!). I've even called them and emailed them and said, "just let me know when you have a free day." Because our schedule is wide open most of the time so it's easier to fit it into others' schedules. And no emails back, no phone calls. No play dates.

Even recently, I've met a few moms at the park while letting Moose play. I've introduced myself...and have gotten nothing back. I've tried to make conversation about our kids, about living close together. I haven't even gotten an introduction.

Maybe I'll have to have some bloggy playdates....

Mama

If I get ambitious later, I'll write about how we were wrongly wronged on our wedding night and/or a letter to my MIL...we'll see.

I am so glad that Kaishon is not at that stage any more! That stage where you have to make small talk with the moms at the park. ICK! It is so irritating. : ) I am glad you have a great friend to share with. They are the best, aren't they? : ) Your babies are so cute. Oh my gosh!
It sounds like you have it right and you don't know it! Or maybe you do and your just a sly doggy ! lol
One good friend... is worth more than 34 mommies who are vying for the next word- deciding whose house is bigger... whose kid is worse... etc. :) I learned quickly that there is comfort in small numbers and a reliable trustworthy partner in crime.

Mommy clubs/ playdates can be done right and they can be done WAY wrong... you're not missing too much. Cheers to you and your good buddy. We all need one to keep us afloat!
:)

Writers workshop stop by!!
And if you met me at a park... I'd totally playdate in hopes that you're one of the good ones. ;)
