The Way Back (movie trailer + 2 comebacks + a giveaway)

It's been so long since I've sat here at my computer and wrote something other than an email. It's been even longer since I've written anything besides a book review. It's just been a funky year or two, but I hope to be back more regularly. Hopefully with less filler (although I don't even know if book reviews are filler for me because books are just a big part of my life, but I plan to be even pickier about what I read and share now) and more about the testimonies God is teaching me in every day life. However, this is not the week for that; too many things on my plate.

In light of my comeback as a writer (fingers crossed), I thought I'd share an upcoming movie with you about another comeback. The Way Back is a Warner Bros. film starring Ben Affleck (Good Will Hunting, that awful Justice League movie, that one movie about Boston thieves that I won't recommend because the language and some content was awful but it was a well-made film). The movie itself is about the comeback of Jack Cunningham, a struggling alcoholic who gets an offer from a priest to coach at his (Cunningham's) former high school. Through this process, Cunningham gets a glimpse of hope and a shot at a second chance.

Warnings about the film: It is R-rated. I wasn't going to promote this film due to that but it's not R-rated because of sexual content. It's R-rated because of language, which must be pretty strong (not surprising given the other film I mentioned of Affleck's). But from watching the trailer and reading this article from the New York Times about Affleck, this film sounds real. Unfortunately, real life includes coarse language. I'm not saying this film is for everyone (and it's not a Christian film), but if we look past the language (if you can - and some cannot), I think we'll see a redemption story, which is always good in today's culture. It can allow for talking points of how God has given us hope, second chances, and redemption in His Son. No one is ever too far from God and His redemption.

I wanted to share the trailer with you so you can decide if it's worth a trip to the movie theater.

To enter: Share the last movie that you saw in the movie theaters. I went and saw The Last Jedi with my dad and two sons in December. Oh! But that's not the last - my husband and I did see Midway in theaters. Both are recommended movies.
