The Pope and a Roman Holiday Contest!

I am not Catholic nor was I raised so, but I've been studying church history off and on for a few years now. It's amazing what the Catholic church was able to do for missions and God's kingdom while the Protestant movement was beginning and not focused on missions for 200+ years (yikes). Much of that is to the credit of the Pope. CNN has a new series titled POPE: The Most Powerful Man in History that explores the truth about the one world leader who is neither politician nor general – but commands the attention of both. For more than 2000 years, the head of the Roman Catholic Church has wielded unimaginable influence – shaping the world and our daily lives in surprising ways. Now, combining never-before-seen footage, exclusive interviews, and dramatic recreations, this upcoming six-part television series focuses on the men who have held this unique and complicated position, and reveals the unexpected true stories from the Vatican’s past. The series also delves into the important historical moments that forever changed the Catholic Church – from the foundations of the Reformation to the origins of a new religious order within Catholicism – the Jesuits.  The series premieres on Sunday, March 11 on CNN at 10p.m. ET/PT.

If you're a history buff or church history buff or if you like well-done television, this is a series for you. I think that we can learn a lot from our past and if you're not part of the Catholic church, like myself, this is a learning opportunity! You can view a trailer below. Did I mention that Liam Neeson is the narrator? That helps, too, doesn't it?

Who wouldn't want a Roman Holiday? Not the movie but a real holiday in Rome? You can have a chance at one! Inspired by the upcoming television series, one lucky winner will have the opportunity to experience a Roman Holiday and a rare tour of the Vatican! The Vatican is where the Pope lives, one of the most iconic cities in the world - you may have "visited" in Dan Brown's book Angels and Demons. To enter this giveaway, you need to go to www.myvaticanvacation.com to enter. Giveaway begins March 8 and ends on April 15.

The winner of the giveaway will receive the following:
-Airfare and five nights of hotel accommodations for two (2) in Rome.
- A $500 gift card.
- A rare and private tour of The Vatican.

The Vatican is home to some of the greatest works of art including The Pieta, Raphael's Transfiguration, Da Vinci's St. Jerome in the Wilderness, the statue of Apollo Belvedere, and a painting of The Last Judgement by Michelangelo, located inside The Sistine Chapel. The Sistine Chapel is famous throughout the world as the location where The College of Cardinals from the Roman Catholic Church meet when a new Pope is to be elected.

You should enter quickly. You should tell your friends. And you should promise to take me to Rome when you win (kidding...sort of). Good luck!

Disclaimer: I will receive a gift card for participating in this blog post. I would have written it anyway because I think the show sounds awesome and I want one of you to go to Rome! Please see the website www.myvaticanvacation.com for contest rules and all of that fine print that goes alone with every contest ever. Grace Hill Media supplied me with this information.
