Tricks & Treats: Cat in the Hat & Word World (review & giveaway)

Halloween is one of my favorite holidays! I love dressing up: be it Wonder Woman or Dorothy (or this year's hopeful costume of Princess Peach). I love trick-or-treating. I love Halloween candy (who doesn't?). I love scary movies and silly Halloween movies/tv shows. This last love comes in handy when we were asked to review The Cat in the Hat Knows a Lot About That: Tricks & Treats and WordWorld: Kooky Spooky DVDs.

My favorite thing about these DVDs? They are 30 minutes long! I wish all shows were only 30 minutes (not including feature length films). I dislike having to tell my kids, "no you can't watch that because it's too long." Mostly because they don't understand what that means. Even my color-coding system of red = 30 minutes, blue = 60 minutes, etc hasn't helped this problem. But short DVDs are my favorite.

Tricks and Treats was probably my favorite of the two, but mostly because I adore The Cat in the Hat Knows a Lot About That. I love how it appeals to a wide age range and is even interesting enough for me to watch. There are some animals in this episode that I've never heard of (and can't think of the name of) before. Very educational, even for me. You also get to "meet" coconut crab, spider monkeys, and bats. The songs are catchy as always, the animation is great. Probably my favorite kid show.

Kooky Spooky is about Pig sleepwalking (something I did when I was a kid) and his friends think he's a ghost. Then Sheep makes herself a super special fairy costume to wear for their Halloween party. WordWorld is another great show! With Moose learning to spell some words, this is the perfect show for him. It's adorably animated, has cute (simple) plots, and they spell everything.

Each DVD is $6.99 each, available at local retailers, online, including NCircle! That's a pretty good deal for such great shows. The better news is that I get to share one copy of each DVD with one of you! This would make a great treat for your little trickster!

My daughter is going to be a lady bug. Though we are still working on getting her comfortable wearing her costume! She's 18 months and doesn't like that it has to go over her head for her to get it on!

Scary movie - I'm not too big on those. I love watching Young Frankenstein on Halloween. Or....wait, I saw Dracula once and it was good.
