hairy situation
I have a problem. Whenever I go to the salon (barber, hairstylist, cosmetologist, what have you), my hair looks sweet (except when I visit a Cost Cutters but that's my fault for assuming that just because you have the degree that you're good at what you do).
Then. I wash it or sleep on it.
However it happens, my hair never looks sweet again until I again visit the salon (etc).
I'm hoping that in my lovely small town, the hairstylist N will have some tips for me (and time for my questions).
That only leaves me with one question: how should I have my hair cut? I have med/long wavy/straight hair. No bangs, no layers. Longer in front, shorter in back (but not much difference).
I need a change. Not that I'm going to go all punk on you and dye it pink & white/blond (although doesn't this picture look awesome). I am hoping this summer the sun will bleach it to its normal color of BLOND (rather than blond/brunette).
Leave your ideas (and URLs if you find a cut suitable for me with a picture).

It sounds like we have the same type of hair...not curly, not quite straight, just wavy enough to be annoying if it's left alone. I have long (4-5 inches below my shoulders) hair with long, sideswept shaggy bangs (the shortest start at my eyebrows). It works for me.
Another thing that really helps my hair stay under control is not washing it every day. Sounds gross, but it works. Between blowing it out and ironing it, it was too much stress on my hair. Now I wash my hair every other day or every 2 days, and I swear it looks better after I've slept on it, which is so not fair!
Love this one! Lot's of layers would look good on you :) And I feel the same way about my hair. Hoping the sun will brighten up the blond again!
I'm not really brave when it comes to hairstyles so I always get the safe and secure, what I've always had.
The biggest thing is coming to grips with how much attention you're going to pay your hair. I'd love a cute style, but I just don't spend that much time in the morning on it. So, don't set yourself up for failure with a haircut that requires maintenance unless you know you'll spend the time on it.
Also, is your hair thick or thin? My hair is thin and so even though there are some styles that I wouldn't mind trying I know that my hair just wouldn't handle them.
After that, just look through fashion magazines. They're good inspiration as are the books in the salons. If all else fails just ask the stylist what she would recommend.
I think a good cut does wonders even for the boring style I have. Hmm...that reminds me that it's time to get back into the salon.
But I think some layers would help to dress it up a bit, if you don't mind styling in the morning! :)
I say go for something that's easy to manage, as well as something that's still long enough to where you can pull it back in a ponytail if you want, especially during the summer months when the weather gets warmer!
Can't wait to see what you decide!
