My husband's company gives them gift cards for every hour they saved on the job (got a job done faster than it was supposed to be done). Now, he calls me to tell me that even though he saved them X amount of hours, he'll only get "paid" for x amount of hours (about 1/4 of the total hours). All because he started at the wrong time (he explained it in better detail but both kids were crying). So we were expecting to get X amount (which we were counting on to help make ends meet) and now we only get x. Not that I'm not thankful for any extra money, even in gift card form, but it just makes me mad that here we were expecting this all along and then BAM, oh you don't get it. And he worked hard to save hours so that we could count on this extra income.

I just don't understand why it wasn't explained to him so that we weren't counting on it. Big A said maybe they just assumed, but you all know what assuming does. It also doesn't help that the starter in our van is going out and it needs new tires, too. These are the days I seriously contemplate going out and job searching...

EDIT: My hubby's co-worker said he had a used starter with 50K miles on it that we could use in our van that will last us a few years. And he's offered to install it for us. Isn't God full of surprises?

do what you need to do for your family. If that means finding work for a few months and figuring things out, go for it! You're not any less of a good mom if you have to work to support your fam!! :)

oh, that sucks. It so reminds me of Clark Griswold in Christmas Vacation when he's expecting a huge bonus and gets a membership to the jelly of the month club. I'm so sorry this is happening. I got jipped by a company recently and it took them a month to get me my money back...but that has created other problems financially. Sigh...

once i thought, "i'll just go to work for a few months temorarily..." that was way back in 1998... I have worked outside the home ever since. and now I have to since i am a single mom. but what i would give to go back and have those moments with my kids when they were still little at home.
