let's play!

About a month ago, I got the grand idea that I would like to play Candy Land with Moose.
I got the board out.
I got all the cards together and little game pieces out.
I sat the kid down.
I explained all the instructions.
We started to play.
He didn't understand.
He just wanted to move the pieces all over.

It would help if he knew his colors.

Today, I had the grand idea to get out our new Go Fish! cards and play THAT with him.
I got out the cards.
Reviewed in my mind how to play.
Dealt the cards.
Wrestled the extra cards from him.
He didn't understand.
He just wanted to look at the cards.

I even tried to play Memory with him with those cards.
That didn't work either.

As I type, he is spreading the cards all over the floor, talking to himself (or the cards), laying on the cards, gathering them back up.

When do they learn games?

My job offer actually came to me. A lady that works with Shane asked him if he knew anybody and he suggested me. They are building a new church, and are afraid to put out any more money. But it's ok. I like my job I have now. :) I'm not really looking, but if another one is dropped in my lap again, I think I might look into it. A little extra money would be nice.
What about you, think about ever finding a job?

Good try Mom but give him a couple more years. Hayden really didn't start to 'get' games until he was about 4.

Aww Bless!
I tired to get Oli to color in with me - he just wanted to eat the pen! :)

I agree with Jen. Mine is 6 and still doesn't love games. He'd take action figured over a board game anyday!

Thanks for sharing in my SITS day last week.

not for awhile - but keep playing!!!
My daughter is finally starting to play games. Although, the first game she played and all her cousins also love was Lets Go Fishing. It is the game where all the fish go around and you need to catch them with the fishing pole. She loves it! Also, Elefun...I think that is how it is spelled. The one where the butterflies shoot out the elephants trunk and you catch them with a net.
