Kool-Aid

I don't know if every knows this but Kool-Aid was invented in Nebraska. In Hastings, Nebraska to be exact. This town is just about an hour from where I grew up. Each summer they have Kool-Aid Days to commemorate the invention of this sugary (and delicious) drink.
We happened to be back at my parents' house this past weekend and decided to take Moose over there to check out the festivities. Mind you, this child didn't have sugar for the first year of his life and still sugar is not a daily commodity in this house (at least not for him). Needless to say, this was his first drink of Kool-Aid.

We also got to hang out with the Kool-Aid guy. Oh Yeah!!! Moose loved him! He didn't want to walk away. He's like that with mascots; they don't freak him out like they do some kids. Weirdo.

And then we walked around, looked at the outrageously priced merchandise (although we got the cup Moose is drinking from for $2 but they had a onesie for $15 and a beach towel for $25, I think), bought some tickets for games (that Moose ended up not being very good at since he can't aim and throw at stuff), and finally used the remainder of our tickets at this:

Big A went with Moose once and then I went twice. So fun! Semi-difficult to carry Moose up those "stairs" on the left. Moose would have gone down it again and again and again if he had a choice. Alas, all good things must come to an end.

AND the night before, Big A arranged for my parents to baby-sit the kids so we could have a date night (apparently my mom doesn't want to be only good for baby-sitting when they come to visit...although she always says "we'll come down probably on Saturday and you can go have a date and leave the kids with us...whatever). He took me to Carlos O'Kelley's where he had some awesome food and mine was ok (he always orders better than me). Then we saw "The Time Traveler's Wife." Very cute and romantic and a good date movie (the theater was PACKED!). Ending...ok. I love me my movie endings and this one was ok. Still worth seeing, though. Then we all stayed in a hotel overnight and Moose didn't wake up once when Squirt was crying during the night to be fed - wow.
Sunday we came home and went to church. It was awesome. And then we took a nap around 1:30 or 2 and I didn't wake up until 5:20!! AND Saturday night Big A got up each time Squirt woke up because he wanted me to sleep through the night - how sweet. I totally needed the sleep! And we had an awesome pot roast that night (I did do something sweet for him, see?) and a good family walk after dinner. The only thing we didn't do was hang up the pictures we've been meaning to hang up since...about the time Squirt was born. Oops.

Glad you got a date night!
That is awesome about the Kool Aid thing - I had no idea it was made in Nebraska. I'm loving the mascot with Moose, I know a lot of people who would want to meet that big sugary pitcher lol!

Mmmmm...I LOVE Kool Aid!
I grew up in NE and did not know it was invented in my home state! That's so neat!

I am so happy to hear that you and Big A had a date night! It is always nice to have that time alone to reconnect!
