many names of pregnancy

According to thesaurus.com this is the definition of pregnant and its synonyms:

Main entry: pregnant
Part of speech: adjective
Definition: carrying developing offspring within the body
Synonyms: abundant, anticipating, carrying a child, enceinte, expectant, expecting, fecund, fertile, fraught, fruitful, gestating, gravid, heavy, hopeful, in family way, parous, parturient, preggers, productive, prolific, replete, teeming, with child

Many of these names I can handle: anticipating, carrying a child, expecting, fruitful, gestating, in family way, with child...

However, I HATE when people call me prego or preggers. I am not a jar of spaghetti sauce,
thank you. I am not some dim-witted, knocked up girl. I am pregnant. When I hear someone say (or wear a shirt saying) that they are "prego," it just makes me want to gag. It sounds like a teenager (and really, no offense to teen mothers here...it just sounds immature).

I've been meaning to post on this forever, but today I was reading another blog and the woman said she was "prego." *throw up here* I don't know why, but this
really just is like nails on a chalk board. When I announce my pregnancy, I can't stand when people put stuff on my Facebook page like, "oh congrats! I didn't know you were prego." Yuck.

I'm sorry if you like that term, really, I am. I think it just doesn't make pregnancy sound like the blessing it is.

That's my rant for the day.

Note to self: don't say prego! I love how serious you are!! I always told my husband I was heavy with child!

I HATED to be referred to as "preggers" too - it drove me nuts!!

good luck on these last couple of weeks!! So exciting now!

You were my 150th!! Thanks!!
A girl I used to work with would send emails to our team about being "prego" and it's annoyed me ever since. I always liked telling our (conservative) families I was "knocked up".

I thought I was the only one that associated that word with spaghetti sauce. Hi from the SITStahood.

This cracks me up! When I was prego (LOL) with my last my friend posted a pic of PREGO spaghetti sauce on myspace and told me congrats! Now I crack up when I hear it unlike before when I hated the term!

I didn't like when people called me preggo either. When my BFF first called me that, I was like, "Why is she calling me spaghetti sauce...?" I had no idea, had never heard the term!

I agree- I always hated when people called me preggers. Good luck with the new- it's an adjustment from one to two, but it gets easier. My boys are 20mos apart and are now good playmates (3yr and 19mos old).

ps- my #2 was 10lb5oz and almost 2 weeks early!
