bath time in the sink

Late last week we had spaghetti. Big A hates when Moose gets messy eating (probably because he always cleans him up). His dilemma was how to clean the kid off before getting in the bathtub (I mean, spaghetti noodles and pieces of meat floating - yuck). I said to spray him off in the sink. Big A came back that he didn't want the kiddo dragging a saggy diaper to the tub. I said to take it off.

And wa-la! We had bath time in the sink.

It reminded me of when Moose was first born and we would bathe him in a bowl in the sink.

Two years later, it doesn't look quite the same.

But it's still so darn sweet.

***Question: At naptime and bedtime, Moose is increasingly freaked out by something in his room. I know we just moved about a month ago and that's about how long he's been in his toddler bed. But this seems more. I don't know what it is. I thought the dark, but that wouldn't explain naptime. I just hate to hear him scream like he's being hurt and see his little face when I walk in his room. I talked to his doctor about it, and she seems to think it's just the move and new bed. I just am not sure. Any ideas on what to do? I was trying to read up on this on the internet, but most of the questions/answers I found were geared toward kids who could tell what was scaring them "dark, monsters, bad guys, etc." Moose doesn't or can't tell me what's wrong. Please, any suggestions or ideas on what may be wrong or what to do is surely appreciated. ***

those photos are so cute and I bet he had a blast in the slashing sink!

ps - try laying on the floor next to him until he gets over the frightened period

Babies come that tiny? :) They grow so quickly.

cute on the sink. Ok - this reminds me of BOTH my boys. My oldest gre out of it first. but my middle one had NIGHT TERRORS from about 18 mos to about 4 years of age. Google "Night Terrors". There are several different types and they range from mild to severe. But here's the gist. It is a sleep disorder. My pediatrician told me that when it appears in toddlers, it is more common with boys then girls. usually it is triggered by stress or something post-traumatic. For" would trigger it: sleeping in a new bed, staying up later than normal, going on vacation, moving, eating a late night snack, etc. And then when he was about 2 1/2-3, he had them EVERY night. he basically grew out of the nightly ones, and he is 11 now and still has them on occassion. He might appear awake, and sometimes even runs through the house. His eyes would be opened, but I later learned that he wasn't really awake. Some nights they were blodd-curdling screams. My trick: I don't know why, But I would sort of hold him down, like a tight hug and pat his back rhythmically, and repeat his favorite nursery rhyme to the beat or sing his favorite song. I ould do this until he would calm down. When he runs through the house (besides causing me to have a heart attack), I find that talking to him in a soothing voice helps. I always know it is a night terror, because he usually doesnt talk. Also - the next morning, i will ask, "did you have a bad dream last night?" and his answer is ALWAYS "NO" or "I don't know."

anyway - don't know if that's what he has or not. but night terrors are way different than night mares. It's worth a shot anyway. good luck.
Your son is so beautiful! Love the curls - my youngest had lovely blond curls, too!

Naptime terrors: Are you a person of faith? I would definitely try a little toddler sized prayer with him! Prayer seems to bring peace to little ones. Hope it gets better!

what sweet photos!!

as for help- you have gotten some good advise already- sing to him, pray with him, lay on the floor in there until he falls asleep. also, in my psych classes we were taught that if you get a can of air freshener and put a decorative label over it that says something like scares-be-gone or "no more scaries" and tell them to spray it to make the scary go away! it really works too!! (and since he is so little i would get an all natural safe spray of course!) But something with lavender and chamomile could also help aid him in calming down. so he sprays when scary and smells that lovely lavender and chamomile smell and is calmed! hope that helps!!

Those pictures are absolutely adorable! How is it that they grow so fast!

My little one used to do this too. We would just go in each time and reassure him that everything is OK and then leave the room after a few minutes. It was a process but eventually, he stopped. It's tough! So sad...
