Writer's Workshop

I know I haven't been that vigil about doing Mama Kat's Writer's Workshop, but I love it. And I love love the topics this week.

The Prompts:

2.) Memorial Day Weekend plans?? Do share!

I really don't usually plan much for this weekend, but this year, I do have a few plans.

My parents are coming to stay the night on Thursday because the Nebraska State Track meet is this weekend and they are attending. Moose and I may go to the meet. I'm debating on whether I want to spend $6 to chase him around the meet (my mom's in a boot cast right now so I would be #1 wrangler). It'd be nice because my sister's boyfriend is in the pole vault event and 3 days later, he's going off to boot camp.

Friday I think it's just a chill out day! Big A works 4, 10 hour days so Friday should be his day off! I'm very excited because this was our first week apart since December. It's been a challenging week re-learning to be only a stay at home mom. I love Moose, but oh, it's been frustrating. ha!

Saturday is more chilling out. I'm hoping the pool nearby is open so we can go swimming (although I don't know what in - I have no swim suit).

Sunday, some friends of ours are back this way from Colorado with their newborn. I'm so excited to see them and meet him at their BBQ. I'm also planning on stealing their kid to try out my new sling to see if it'll work on me (I got a S/M and I'm a full-figured person so it'll be close). :)

And Monday...more relaxing! Woo hoo!

MOB Society: Bragging on Boys

Like my friend Erin shared in her "bragging" post, I don't necessarily want to "brag" about my boys but I am overjoyed at some of their accomplishments recently! So I will share with you! Moose is doing wonderfully at school. We moved him to the afternoon classroom and his teacher said that his behavior problems that they saw in the morning have virtually disappeared. Great! Twice last week (once at school and once at Sunday School) his teachers told me that he shared with someone. What a sigh of relief that one is; sharing is so hard but to know that what I'm implementing at home is working (even the itsy bitsiest bit!) is a relief.  I've noticed that baby toys are most enjoyed by the older crowd. Moose is also reading! I got the sight word list that kindergarteners start off with from his teacher - he read them all for me this morning. I bought a Chuggington book for him on their last book order - he read it by himself after only having it read

Greater (movie review)

Sports movies are some of my favorite ones; even better if they are underdog stories! "Greater" is just that - a true underdog story about Brandon Bulsworth who could be called the greatest walk-on in the history of college football. The movie follows Bulsworth from the time he's a kid. His mother is raising he and his brother (who is quite a bit older; old enough to be mistaken for his dad, laughably). His brother gives him a kick in the pants when Brandon claims he wants to play for the Arkansas Razorbacks. Brandon was a heavy kid so no one really thought it would happen. However, Brandon worked as hard as he could and made it. Walked on the team and caught the attention of his coach who put some amazing work into this kid to help him become better. I love when coaches look at the heart of a player more than ability. This really is an amazing story, an amazing movie - full of inspiration and encouragement. We Choose Virtues (review & giveaway!)

I almost think I needed this Kids Kit from We Choose Virtues almost as much as my sons. I mean, check out this list: patience, kindness, obedience, diligence, forgiving, attentive, etc. I have such problems with patience and attentive (anyone else get distracted by stuff online?)! So I know that it's important to teach these virtues to my children, too (and learn alongside them). Jesus was patient, forgiving, obedient, diligent, forgiving, attentive, self-controlled, content, etc. We are supposed to imitate Jesus and so I thought this was a good way to help me teach them how to do that. image from the WCV website Like I said, I reviewed the Kids Kit.
