Signing Time
I'm not sure if I've mentioned it on here or not, but I've been trying to teach Moose some signs. I think it will make communicating with him easier (and I'm holding out for him to learn the sign for Mom because he says it so rarely).
So far he has mastered "more," "thank you," and "please." I didn't teach him more but diligently took it from there.
Some days it seems like he's not learning anything. Then I kind of remember that he's not going to learn it instantly; he'll learn it when he's ready. He may even never imitate it before he does it himself.
I've been watching these "Signing Time" videos with him that we borrowed from the library. Our doctor recommended them, and I really like them. Moose likes to sit and watch them with me, too.
A few days ago, I asked him if he wanted milk, and showed the signs for "want" and "milk." And he totally knows "milk." So awesome.
Then this morning, I was changing his diaper when he woke up, and I asked if he was hungry and if he wanted something to "eat." He puts his little finger up to his mouth for "eat." And he's done it again now that it's snack time. I am so awe struck by this kiddo. He's awesome.
The thrill of him learning something I taught him is just amazing. There is no other high like this. It's fun because after I learn the signs, I use them throughout our day (as much as I can with my limited signs), and I teach them to Big A. He uses them as much as he remembers (I think I have it easier because I learn with the DVDs). So it's a family thing.
I'm so excited to see what he learns next.

We used sign language with our first boy, and it was great! It was SO nice to know what he wanted.
Once he started talking we didn't really use them too much... but now that we are starting with his little brother he is using signs that we taught him long ago (that we haven't started with yet)! It's amazing what they remember.
p.s. You were just above me on SITs today! :o) You know I'm winning the Bissell, right?
I wanted to teach my last one sign but with working and all, I just couldn't do it. His sitter taught him some but the only one that stuck was "please". It's so cute seeing him use it to this day!
saw you were the featured blogger today on SITS - congrats!
