bye bye thumber baby

*Note* I'd like to show you a picture of this, but my memory card is not working well with my computer lately. I need a new computer. But I added a picture of the earliest picture of Moose sucking his thumb.**

Yesterday, Big A was home due to crappy weather. He decided that it was about time that Moose stopped sucking his thumb. He gets out the athletic tape and wraps Moose's right thumb (the only one he sucks on).
At first the poor kid was just trying to get the tape off. Of course, he got it off about twice yesterday, so we re-wrapped it. He'd put it in his mouth and right away take it out with a look of disgust! He's tried biting it off, but I think mostly he's given up.
As soon as that thumb is clear of tape, it's in his mouth, though. He did take a nap yesterday AND fall asleep without it last night.
I went to check on him when I went to bed last night, and he was wrestling around in bed. He saw me and woke up, so I picked him up to rock a bit. He went to put his thumb in his mouth & simultaneously took his other hand to my ear to play with as he sucked. When he realized that tape was still on his thumb, he took down the ear hand, too.
That did it for me. I laid him back down & went to my bed to have a good cry. Another baby thing that's going away, taking my baby further to boyhood rather than babyhood. It's hard to grow up, but it's harder to watch your kids do it. I think mostly now I have the diaper thing left...I'm not willing to let that stick around longer than I have to though, no worries.

Join in the fun over at Candid Carrie's for Friday's Foto Finish Fiesta!

I promise, everything will be just fine Randi! You will love the next phase of his life just as much as the baby phase. It gets better and better. Enjoy the stage he is at today, the rest of his life will be here before you know it.

Thanks for participating and I am having so much phun visiting everyone today!

What a sweet photo! It's hard to let them grow up and leave certain "baby-isms" behind!

Good luck, and happy Friday!

Oh...it is so hard to have children grow up. What an awesome idea however to help stop the thumb sucking!!

I second that thought (from your comment on my blog)..great friends indeed...with Esme as a guide!!

Awww....I know how you feel. But every new phase is more fun than the last. It does go by too fast though....

It's weird how we are so proud of our little ones and their accomplishments, yet we are sad when they actually move past the older phase to get to those accomplishments. I'm with you on this one. Take care and thanks for sharing.

Found you on Candid Carrie.
