SITS blogathon
Over at one of my most favorite blogs (and blog recognition sites), SITS (The Secret is in the Sauce), they are hosting a blogathon. There are tons of prizes to giveaway and so many new blogs to read.
That's really what I want to tell you about today: people I've met through SITS. Although I have not yet had my day in what I like to call the SITS Sun (your personal day of recognition as the featured blog of the day at SITS), I have met some incredibly sweet women through this blog.
At various points of my blogging, I have considered deleting it. It's really very easy to delete a blog, and, although I mostly blog for myself, at times I thought it pointless to blog for no audience while I could just keep my journal (which I do, too). But then, mostly through SITS and SITSas, I have created a (very small) readership.
I do have friends who comment (mostly Mrs. Spiderlegs & Rion), but I also have about 3-4 friends who read my blog (and have their own blogs) who never or seriously rarely comment. Weird that people I don't know comment by and far way more than people I've never met.
So let me introduce you do some of my friends in this blogosphere of the Internet. Some are real life friends, others are friends I've met through SITS. Each has made an impact on my blog and my heart. Without any further ado:
Mommy in Waiting: This is my real-life best friend! Her blog is incredibly open and honest about her feelings and things going on in her life and the world. Mrs. Spiderlegs is one of the most incredible Christians I have ever met in my life and has helped me to become the Christian (and woman) I am today. She was my bridesmaid, I was her matron-of-honor (although that really makes me sound like a grandma). She and her husband are Moose's godparents, so that shows how much we think of them.
Mama's Losin' It: I know Mama Kat is a bit hit in many of the circles of blogs I lace myself through. She is on countless blog rolls, and rightfully so! She is SO funny and has so many antics from her daycare and own personal life, it's hard to stop reading her blog. And with her Writer's Workshops, she gives those of us lacking a muse something good to post about while bringing us together, too. Kat was one of my first outsider commenters, and one of the few reasons I kept trudging away with this blog.
The R Family Diaries: Many of you know Tiffany through SITS or her own personal blog. However, over the past few months, I feel like she and I have connected through our blogs. She leaves me the sweetest comments, sometimes leaving me in tears at her kindness. AND have you seen this mom? She's one of those hot mamas! And she's incredibly talented! She has an adorable blog, adorable crafts on said blog, co-hosts SITS and SITS recipes, and has her own vinyl lettering store. But I never leave her site without laughing and never read her comments without smiling. Tiffany also gave me sort of a personal recognition day by having a contest where you had to comment on my blog about how beautiful, talented, and wonderful I am. It was forced compliments but Tiff's antics were so nice! I had a great day; really helped lift my spirits.
Seven Clown Circus: I came across Angie through SITS (I read a funny comment of hers & decided to check out her blog). I adore linking up to her on Wednesdays for Wordful Wednesdays. And just check out her blog design, isn't it sweet? Makes me want to actually have a design on my post! Her life may seem insane with so many people, but she still makes time to come over to my blog and leave me wonderful comments!
Jenerbug: Jennie is a sweetie-pie who has only recently come into my blog-life. And I'm so pleased she did, because I enjoy visiting her over at her blog. I know I keep saying what sweet comments I receive, but it's so true & this is no exception. The crafts she includes on her site are really neat and they definitely bring out my own crafty persona. Did I mention she's adorable, too? Because she is.
Honey Mommy: This gal just put up a new design on her blog and it's fantastic! BUT you should have seen it before because it was very cute, too. Each design has just shown how beautiful her life is. And it is! Her blog name just seriously shows you how sugary-sweet she really is. And we have something in common: trying to lose weight. I know what a hard struggle that is for me personally, but she has been putting it up on her blog! That's courage I just don't have (although I have tried to put my weight loss on my blog but never found anyone commented so I thought there was no interest). Her boys are too stinking cute too! Little blondies and they just seem like angels (which she may or may not disagree about).
Musings from a Mindless Banterer: Emma is forever commenting on my site; I'm so glad because I had bookmarked her blog awhile ago but lost it. So when she commented I jumped on the chance to reconnect to her blog. The antics of her children make me laugh and just shake my head because I know when my Moose gets older, I'm in for all of it. I love her chats with her kids or when she tells about them calling or messaging her at work. Too funny! And she is one of the few who have me on their blog rolls...which I am touched by, really.
Tiaras & Tantrums: I LOVE her heading of her blog; it's so cute. But don't let her fool you, she is not all sugar, she has some spice. She is the fiery red-head she claims to be (at least as far as I can tell from her blog). BUT she's not too spicy, the sweetness always shows in her comments. I also love how she says she can't lose her last 10 baby pounds beause she bakes too much. That is my problem except my husband's baking is the culprit.
Candid Carrie: Also many of you have this lady's button on your sidebars. It's true, she's fabulous & very Candid. I love to put my picture on Friday's Foto Fiesta Finish, and she is so quick about getting our links up (and she does it herself!). I love to see how she will comment in her way by posting my link; it's always creative and very lovely.
Some of my real-life bloggy friends are included in my sidebar, but I will give you a sneak peek into their lives, too.
Adventures: Apryl is my old neighbor who is expecting her first child. She speaks honestly about being pregnant while finishing up her schooling. It's not always easy but I know she'll make it through to graduation.
My Life as an Iowa Girl: Janice is new to this blogosphere although I know she's had other blogs. She works with the little ones and is now moving to a new place with her mom. It's always interesting to hear what's going on in the other part of the Midwest.
J Crew: This mama was transplanted from an urban life to country life. She's a mom of 3 just beautiful boys who are the apples of her eye. She obviously adores her husband just as much as their children, and recently has taken on the adventures of canning and knitting!
Journey of a Whittle: D is my old pregnancy buddy (she was pregnant with Z while I was pregnant with Moose). Now she & her husband are expecting Baby #2 soon, so it will be exciting to watch their family grow.
Kountry Kids: Tessi is one of my very good friends, and our kiddos are friends. Although an update may be hard to come by, Tessi always has great stories from their farm and life in Nebraska. She's also so sweet when she stops to visit my blog, just like she is in real life.
Mommy in Waiting: I've mentioned Mrs. Spiderlegs a time or two in my blog. I just wanted to plug her blog here twice. She's great!!
Rambling Ryan: Ex-coworkers (we both graduated so we can't have work study anymore) but it was always such a fun time to work. She recently transplanted herself to Seattle so it's wonderful to keep an update on how life in the rainy city is going.
The Dittmer Digest: Becky is candid about married life and work as a youngin's teacher. She loves to participate in Mama Kat's Writer's Workshops, so look for her posts usually updated at least on Thursdays.
The Tiny Ninja: Shannon's title may leave you wonderful if she is mysterious and hard to find, but she's not. Her blog is incredibly open about her relationship with Christ and struggles to find the love for her job. It's a great read, especially when she has antics about school kids.
Sorry to digress about SITS, but I really just wanted to plug some of my friends. If you are from SITS, maybe you can entice them to the home-blog by leaving them tempting comments about prizes and how beautiful they are!
I hope you have learned about SITS and about how wonderful people in this bloggy world are. I have yet to have any trolls stop by (at least none have commented), so please leave me a comment so I can link to you and give you some love as well.
AND if you have not done so (as I had guiltily not done so until Sunday), go check out the SITS recipe blog. It's so awesome. I found some yummy cookie recipes, slow cooker recipes (always a plus for busy people), and even a recipe to make crayon cupcakes for little hands. Amazing.
Happy blogging!
