journal and/or blog

I have been keeping a journal for as long as I can remember. At times it has been called a diary but, considering I don't know the real difference, I don't mind if you call it journal. Most of the time, I'm writing to God because He knows everything anyway! I write about my dreams, my frustrations (a lot of these), my doubts, my hopes, my fears. I write about Big A and Moose, the Spiderlegs, the A-team, and other friends. Basically, what a blog about, too, but it seems my blog isn't as personal; probably because I know other people (whether one or ten) read it. Sometimes, I rant on my blog (like the car seat situation) and sometimes I write really angry posts (but those usually get deleted).
I like the blog because it takes so much less time. But I do like the intimate part of actually writing down my feelings, especially when something is on my mind. It's therapeutic to write down what's going on & a lot of the times it really makes me feel better, like I'm letting go of my problems. In both places, I usually am a true English major: capital letters, puncutation, and grammar (although I'm sure I make a ton of mistakes - please don't point them out).
I also have been keeping a journal for Moose since he was about a month old. I just wanted him (when he's older) to have a sense of what he was like as a baby/child. I told him about his birth and most events. I wrote about how I missed him when he went to daycare while I was in school. I write about how proud I am when he learns something new. This reminds me, I need to write something (I'm not always diligent with it) about all the cool things he's been learning lately.
Which do you prefer? Are you an Anne Frank or a true queen of the blogosphere?

PS Just wanted to let you know about my discontinued blogging feature of the daycare diaries. I was informed (over Facebook - professional right?) that one of the dads (of 3 of the kids) got a promotion, so the kids will only be there 2 days a week. Therefore, my now ex-boss can't afford 2 helpers so I got fired/laid off/whatever. There goes my career in daycare.

First off, I am so very sorry that you lost your job. I was "laid off" from my job in August 2007 when I was almost 7 months pregnant, but it was a hidden blessing. I love being a SAHM...even if the finances are a bit tight.

Secondly, I know what you mean about blogging and writing in a journal. I do both as well. Sometimes, just writing something down that is bothering me and then throwing it away...just helps me to "get over it" and move on.

Thirdly, my profile picture is a family shot. That is my 9+ month pregnant belly with my husband's and our oldest daughter's hands. It is my favorite shot of the four of us.

I am more a list maker, so I always have a note book, ok more like 3 notebooks, but I love to blog... when I started I did not know if I would like it or not, but it really is a great outlet....Sorry about your job, but you know that we can not always see what plan God has set for us, just remember finances may change, but GOD is always there.

I am SO bad at keeping a journal. I'm definitely an "on line" kind of girl. But I love that you have both. :)

Hi- I think I do both. I keep an anne frank type of thing by my bed and just jot down whatever I am thinking. And then I try to keep the blog up too!

I jumped the blog wagon a little late it seemed... but I do love keeping record. I've always had a journal too- I love that because it's in my own handwritting so it seems a little more personal.

Just wanted to say thanks for visiting my blog... come back soon!
